Desktritus – 3 months later
Remember that desk themed meme from 3 months back? Dave, SJ, Kyra, and many others participated by sharing photos of their desks.
Poor poor me. I couldn’t participate because I didn’t have a desk at home. I did most of my typing using a lapboard on the bed, or the bar in the kitchen.
But now I can finally participate in a somewhat modified version of the meme! Steven and I have “redesigned” our home office and guess what… we are actually using it now! But I am showing you much more than my desk…
The “Before” Photo –
… and the “After” Photo!
Isn’t it kind of weird to see photos of other blogger’s homes?
I use the desk in the center of the photo, and Steven uses the desk on the right side (and Data plays with that little yellow mouse on the floor). There is a filing cabinet behind the folding photo screen, and a map of the world in front of it. The space is large – 11′ x13′ – but still homey. Steven and I are both happy we spent the time and money to redesign the space!
Nice room make-over! π Very Chic.
Cool! I really like the colors on the wall. What are they?
Very nice! It looks just as good as any television makeover I’ve seen!
Wow! Great job!
Want to come over and paint my dining room? π
it looks great! i’m such a voyeur that i love looking inside people’s homes. heh. π
Oooooooooo, that does look nice. My bedroom needs a serious makover. We’ve done everything else, but the bedroom always gets overlooked.
i love it, especially the chat noir poster!
i love it!!! it is so cozy!!! i LOVE your bookcases!!! π
What a difference! Your office looks great now – makes me want to get busy on our computer area.
Very sophisticated!
Kyra – thanks π
Lisa – the red wall is Behr “Cinnamon Cherry” and the tan walls are Behr “Harvest Brown.” They colors look completely different on the Behr website than they do in real life!
Dave2 – I suppose you wouldn’t be surprised if I told you that Steven and I like to watch those home makeover shows? π
diane – I didn’t do the painting! Steven did! So maybe he can’t paint your wall while you and I watch The Simpsons?
sizzle – thanks! I always like to look too…
ajooja – Isn’t it strange that people spend the most time in their bedroom but that is usually the most overlooked place (design-wise) in the house?!
Hilly – thank you! I was so excited to hang that poster up – I love the vibrant colors!
CourtneyInControl – I was so excited about the bookcases! That is actually the first thing we did – but and assemble the tall bookcases!
SJ – get busy… with work? π
Robin – thanks! We feel more like grownups now π
Looks fantastic! It reminds me of the “before” and “after” photos you see in “miracle diet pill” ads and such: the “before” photo shows somebody a bit overweight and unhappy, and maybe for extra effect they happen to have indigestion or the flu when the photo is taken. But then the “after” photo, often as not, shows a different person who looks much healthier and fitter, probably has different hair color, is smiling, etc.. The difference seems nearly that stark…
…except, I’m sure that’s the same room, but improved greatly. ;-P Nice job!
(OK, I might’ve overstated things a bit here: the previous arrangement actually looks nice to me too. But your new setup looks even better!)
You know, as Diane can attest, my apartment’s living room could use some work (heck, scratch that: the whole place can use some work)… π
Wow, your office looks great! You guys even managed to leave room for a deflated air mattress in the center. Sweet!
E – Steven and I make fun of those commercials constantly! Ha ha ha – and it is exactly like that – I showed our extra crappy “before” photo to make the after look that much better π I am surprised Diane is not over at your place decorating for the holidays? π
Andrew – we always keep you in mind! π
I can’t help but stop and look at photos of interiors of peoples offices. If you have a chance check out “on my desk”; though mostly for artists – it gives some great ideas for storage… well; some of them anyway π

Ascender – that site is cool! I love looking at other people’s offices – it is like looking inside of their brain and seeing how their wheels turn π
