Friday Question #9

By , January 4, 2008 5:17 am

If drinking fountains could dispense another liquid in addition to water, what would you want it to be?

Diet Coke.

When I worked at McDonald’s (from the summer after my freshman year in high school to the summer after my freshman year in college – yikes!), we were allowed to drink as much soda as we wanted. We couldn’t drink it while working, but we could have it on “30-second drink breaks,” during lunch break, and before and after work.

During that time, I became addicted to Diet Coke. I drank a 21 oz. cup of it before my shift, drank it during my shift, and took a 32 oz. cup of it home. I never got sick of it.

And I still haven’t. Although, ideally I prefer it off the tap, not in a can. But I will drink it in a can too.

And Welch’s Strawberry soda is my second choice! Although I rarely drink it… I love how sugary sweet it is.

XXX-flavored Vitamin Water! Yay! Let’s make it happen!

  2. Kyra says:

    Responsible answer: Canadian Mist (diet)

Irrespsonsible answer: Home made hot (but not too hot) chocolate

    Totally irresponsible answer: Mudlsides!!!!!!

  3. unsweet ice tea!!!! i LOVE it!!!

  4. my poison of choice right now is Coke Zero. That would be great. Although, I would have to bring my own cup if I’m gonna even attempt to use a water fountain.

  5. sizzle says:

i’ve never really liked soda except for root beer and sometimes ginger ale (it’s good with whisky! mmm!). but maybe this makes me square- i love water. i’m a water junkie. it’s strange but true…

  6. Jenniy says:

Orange juice! Fresh squeezed or Tropicana, please, I hate any other store bought brand. I’m not a big pop drinker, although I do like the rare Dr. Pepper.

  7. Hilly says:

I wish they had “hot fountains” for cold days that housed hot cocoa and yummy coffees!

  8. Kimberly says:

    What a fun question!

I would want some sort of juice. Preferably cranberry juice…YUM YUM!

  9. Felicia says:

Unsweet/unlemon ice tea…….it is hard to find it without lemon in a can/bottle.

  10. Megan says:

    Hi Kim!

I’m with you, I am hopelessly addicted to Diet Coke, and specifically Diet Coke, not just diet sodas in general. I am seriously disappointed if a restaurant only has Pepsi stuff, because that means I have to lower myself to drink Diet Pepsi, which just isn’t the same as DIET COKE! Andrew was shocked and disgusted that I had drank an entire 2-Liter of Diet Coke this morning in under two hours. He obviously doesn’t understand the hold Diet Coke can have over a person.

  11. Jodi says:

What a great question! I have been thinking about this for a while now, and I have decided that I have different answers for different times of the day. In the morning, it’s coffee — no cream, no sugar — black coffee.

In the afternoon, I like iced tea. Again – no sweeteners, lemon, etc.

In the evening, a nice white wine would hit the spot! Haha!

When I was pregnant with Joey, it would have been milk. I couldn’t get enough milk.

  12. SJ says:

Organic 1% milk!!! Yum yum! And if some of the fountains dispensed the chocolate version, that would be even better!

  13. Robin says:

Hands down—Diet Coke. Fountain diet Coke from Mickey Ds is the my fav!

  14. ajooja says:

Diet Coke was created by a force greater than mere humans. It is the nectar of the gods.

  15. The Husband said he would want it to be flavored coffee. Hope its not to steamy!

  16. suze says:

    mmmm, diet coke. My favourite.

  17. lcmotorist says:

I want my fountain to dispense ice-cold Starbucks Doubleshot Light in the morning and sparkling water (LaCroix, Perrier, any kind) in the afternoons and evenings. Yummy.

  18. Catherine says:

Diet Snapple Lime Green Iced Tea. Kapgar’s would be my second choice. I love Vitamin Water, and XXX is my favorite, Defense is a close second.

  19. kilax says:

kapgar – I hadn’t heard of the XXX drink until I saw this weekend’s taret ad. It sounds delicious! I like some of their other flavors already… should I resist getting addicted to another?

Kyra – Mudslides? Ha ha. You’re baaaaaaaaaaad.

CourtneyInControl – I have NEVER had tea! I need to try it because so many people like it!

Gina (Mannyed) – Have you tried Cherry Coke Zero?! It is SO GOOD!!! (And good point about the cup!)

sizzle – you get the health points for voting for water!

Jenniy – OJ is the best! Do you think you could drink it in the evening too? I am an “OJ in the morning only” type of gal.

Hilly – that is a superb idea. It would warm everyone up and get them going again.

Kimberly – cranberry juice would be good! Is that one that stains your tongue? Or am I thinking of another kind…?

Felicia – I have heard that it is hard to find! I guess most people like it sweetened?

Megan – HI! Andrew obviously has a lot to learn about Diet Coke. It is the most superb (and prob most addictive) of the diet drinks. When I lived in Italy, it was sold in 1 liter bottles and I usually drank one a day!!!

Jodi – you had a smart response – thinking of what you want throughout the day! That white wine sure would be nice… sometimes I feel like I could use a glass in the middle of the day too 😉

SJ – I have noticed the organic milk tastes SO MUCH better. What is up with that?

Robin – I am with you. McDonald’s has the best. It is about the only thing I go in there for…. well, the ice cream too 😉

ajooja – lol! Finally, a man who is addicted too! I knew it wasn’t just us women! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Gina (Mannyed) – good idea. Will the husband be brining a cup too? 😉

suze – I think Diet Coke is the popular vote! I had a suspicion it would be!

Icmotorist – Starbucks is probably the most practical idea – people need it in the morning to get going!

Catherine – Lime Green Iced Tea? That sounds good! So does Defense. Maybe I will pick up a Vitamin water tomorrow at work!

  20. Felicia says:

Actually most of it comes with lemon because I think most people like that 🙂

But sugar is pretty popular too. Me, I am a plain and straight gal!!!

My coffee on the other hand has to taste almost like hot tea….so tons of non-dairy creamer and sugar 🙂

  21. Kimberly says:

Uhh…I don’t think Cranberry juice stains the tongue…but then again if it did it would probably just make it a little darker of a red/pink than it already is…so it’s all good…HA!
