Seen on Kilbourne
Sadly, there is a lot of trash on the shoulder on the main road I run on. It makes for an interesting run, sometimes. Like the time I saw:
A Goliath roller coaster hat!
(I saw this a few days after riding that roller coaster with Anne, funny enough!)
A paddle!
(This did not help me with my run)
A Mexican flag!
A TV remote!
And a little yellow toy cowboy hat!
(I used to see this over and over, and never took a photo. Then the shoulder got fresh rock and now it’s buried! So this is a fake photo.)
Can you guess which item I actually took home? I still don’t think Steven has found it. Heh.
It really pisses me off to see SO MUCH TRASH on the shoulder. I see this stuff, then the regular things like soda bottles, lighters, papers, food wrappers, etc. PEOPLE! KEEP YOUR TRASH IN YOUR CAR AND THROW IT AWAY AT HOME OR ANY OTHER PLACE YOU GO THAT HAS A GARAGE CAN OUTSIDE!
I plan to run up and down this road with a garbage bag and collect all this rubbish before it snows.
I always am disappointed when I see trash out on my runs. People act like fast food bags take of so much room inside their vehicle that sharing space with it on the way home is just too hard. I also see a lot of empty alcohol bottles. 🙁
Yeah, what is that about – like you can’t really stand to have that in your car for a bit longer? Just take it out when you get to your destination!
YES! So many empty alcohol bottles. That is VERY worrisome.
My office is part of the Adopt-a-Highway program for a 2 mile stretch of road near our office. It makes me so angry how much crap is out there and we do it twice a year! The worst is the million cigarette butts and plastic cigar containers and the bottles of alcohol. 🙁 Who are you people and why is the world your trash bag?!
That is great you guys do that, though! I bet every highway needs this much attention since people are such a-holes. GRRRR.
That is a lot of random crap. The little yellow cowboy hat almost looks photoshopped into the picture. I hope you took the paddle or the remote home. 😉
It is photoshopped! 🙂 I saw it a ton then it got buried in rocks and I don’t know where it is anymore. It used to make me smile when I saw it.
Ha! Can you imagine me running home with that paddle?
I hope you took home the paddle because you never know when you might need one, right?
Yeah! I totally ran home with that!!!! It goes with my other random paddle at home. But they are different lengths :-/
I always get sad when I walk over the Chicago River and see all the trash. Also there is a lot of trash on the sidewalks in Pilsen, which I didn’t notice as much when we lived in a “nicer” neighborhood. I don’t think the residents of the other ‘hoods are necessarily cleaner, but the city cares more about those ‘hoods and provides more trash cans and clean-up services 🙁
Speaking of which, I hope you took the Mexican flag home.
Oh interesting that it’s different per neighborhood there. That makes sense, but sucks 🙁
I did! Steven just found it today. HA
I was thinking you probably took the paddle home, too.
We get a lot of trash on the road and in our front garden here, too. People can be so thoughtless and lazy!
The flag!
Oh blah. Then you are out there picking it up, right?! 🙁
You took the flag lol I would have called paddle too.
I see trash here too, but mostly plastic bags and those stupid vaping cartridges …blah. You have interesting trash.
Horrible and so much random items tossed out. We see a lot of trash in front of our house all the time. So disgusting. I agree that they should take it home or at least to the nearest trash can.
It’s worse at shopping centers here. Dirty diapers in the parking lot, less than 50 feet from a trash can. Just left on the ground.
Ugh! That is horrible! And those people want to leave the world that dirty for whomever’s diaper that is?!
