What soul?
A few weeks ago I told my coworker (in a text): “Running in this heat is crushing my soul.”
To which she replied, “What soul?”
Well played, favorite coworker. Ha ha. It’s crushing something. My spirit?
I’ve been trying not to complain about it all summer. The heat is what it is. I don’t sign up for summer races to “race” them. I don’t expect to be fast. I try to deal with it. But wah.
Instead of getting up for a run this am, I stayed in bed, trying to get rid of a headache I got yesterday afternoon. When I left the house at 4:30 pm to run I was pissed when I saw it was 92°.
It seems stupid to say all of this now, since we are supposed to have cool weather this weekend. And I should mention, my run yesterday morning was only in the high 50s!
But like I said, wah.
The highlight of my run was wearing the new top Erin gave me for my birthday. It’s a Skirt Sports top and has a built in pocket!
Hells to the yeah! Is that not awesome? You all know I usually put my phone in my bra. In this top, I put it in the pocket and it does not get as sweaty. It does fall out when I bend over, so I am watching for that.
Do you guys have any Skirt Sports apparel?
Damn, their stuff is cute! Look at this top!
ZOOMA Women’s Race Series is running a Skirt Sports giveaway that ends today. Check it out here before it’s too late!
And remember – if you are thinking about running ZOOMA Great Lakes on Oct 20 use code GLAMB8 for $10 off the half and $5 off the full!
Where and when was it in the 50s? I want to go there! 🙂
5:30 am Monday morning in Grayslake, IL 🙂
Yah, running in the heat pretty much sucks. I keep my phone in my bra too, and I swear I’m going to drown the poor thing. 🙂
Yeah… it is NOT fun. I’m completely over summer.
50s?! Are you kidding me?! I’m so jealous! It’s supposed to be turning off cooler here too around Thursday through the weekend with lows in the lower 60s. I can’t wait!!!
Super cute shirt! And you look great in it!
Ugh- the light lingering headaches are the worst! I almost prefer a full on migraine episode if it’ll last just an hour and I don’t have to deal with it the rest of the day…
I admire your attempts not to complain about the summer heat. I do it all the time, and it must get so annoying because, ugh, it’s not like we can do anything about it. That being said, “I don’t think “wah” adequately covers it. Give yourself some slack–it’s more like waaaaah!
Ha ha ha. I think you are right. It’s waaaaah followed by curse words 🙂
Your new top is so cute! I’m a big fan of red. (Is it red? it looks red.) I’m with you on the heat–it’s so gross and I hate that it gets hot so quickly so if I don’t get my run in first thing in the morning I pretty much have to shorten it or cancel it. Can’t wait for fall. 🙂
It is red!
I wish I could get my act together and do more early morning runs. On Monday after it being so cool I actually felt a bit chilly when I got back! It totally reminded me of fall 🙂
Where the heck is it going to be in the 50’s? Can’t possibly be Chicagoland 🙂
It was in the high 50s during my run Monday morning. I am not sure if it will get that low this week or not! 🙂
I sweat so much, I have a pair of shorts that have a pocket in the back, just above my butt, where my phone fits
Well, you know me, I’ve done more complaining about the humidity than actual running. Fail.
You look great in your new running top!
I am beyond thrilled that the temps are going to be “cool” this weekend – 70-degree temps never sounded so good. =D
Very cute shirt and you look fabulous in it!!! Erin has great taste!
Well I look totally ridiculous in that photo. At least you look cute 🙂
I get that it’s summer. I get that it’s hot. But I really look forward to being able to go outside and not end up dripping sweat after 2 minutes.
I thought we looked awesome! Like we should be on the cover of RW! Do you want me to take it down?
The worst is when you have sweat dripping down off your elbows. EWWW
I seem to only complain about the heat and how it’s absolutely crushing my running spirit! Chicago marathon better be cool and crisp this year!!! 🙂
I hope you have 2009 temps! 🙂 That would be awesome!
