New luggage

Ugh. I have to go to Louisville today for work. Again. I am a bit sick of going there. Every trip (this will be the third) has been during one of the nation’s heat waves, and I have just felt so gross and hot and uncomfortable. Ugh.

But! I have something that will make this trip a bit better – new luggage:

Before I was using a carry-on bag that only has handles (the shoulder strap broke off) and while it is good for driving trips where I don’t have to lug it far, it was making me crazy carrying it to the office, and all over the airport.

Hopefully the new luggage will make the traveling part a lot easier. And me a lot less crankier.

Do you have decent carry-on luggage?

I hope the new luggage helps out – it makes such a difference to have a roller bag in American airport travel (every airport here is so set up for it!).

I got a luggage set as my 21st birthday present, just before I went to England. The bags worked well for the trip, but I only really used them for getting there, as a closet being there, and getting home. I used them minimally for the next 5 years, but this last year, I haven’t spent a week where I haven’t used a piece of the set! They’ve held up fantastically well (knock on wood) and I never thought that they’d get so much use!

What brand did you get? Mine is Samsonite and I am hoping it will hold out. I really loved using it!

I have a carry-on sized roller bag suitcase that I bought for $10 at the department store I used to work at about 9 years ago. So far it’s been perfect for what I’ve needed it for. I even packed it for a 12 day trip to northern Canada in the middle of winter (there was a washing machine where I stayed)! I was determined to not check luggage on that trip because it took 6 planes to get to my destination and I did NOT want to lose my luggage!!

Hope Louisville isn’t too hot this week!!!

I have been using the same one for about 12 years and it has not yet fallen apart. However, our suitcase broke our last day of our honeymoon and that was a pain to carry through the airport!

I like the new luggage! I think that luggage can make or break a trip. I don’t have a decent carry-on bag and would like to get one. That’s a future investment! I’m also a terrible packer and so I usually check the damn bag, also in part because I really hate schlepping stuff through the airport.

We need to get new luggage – its on my to do list.

  6. I dont have any luggage, when I travel (which is practically never) I just borrow luggage from my grandma or my dad. They’re both pretty well stocked in the department.

Nice! I hope it makes traveling slightly less painful. I got new luggage for my birthday in 2009 and I love it. It’s purple, too, so that makes it stand out on the baggage claim. Somehow I always end up on the flight with limited overhead luggage room so I have to check it at the gate. But that’s okay because they don’t charge you at the gate!

I wanted the purple bag, but that was a no-go, since Steven wants to use it when he travels on his own 😉 You always check your bag at the gate for Louisville too! So much better than storing it on the plane yourself 🙂

Nice luggage! We don’t have a great set, but then again, we don’t travel a bunch… sadly.

  9. I was in Louisville two years ago for work in the summer and I agree- it is so hot! I was charmed by the southern-ness of it at first but after a few days I was ready to head home!

Love the new suitcase. I need to invest in a nice set of luggage!

  10. I have a similar looking suitcase to yours (spinner-style from Samsonite) and I love it! Recently I haven’t packed too smartly and it’s a bit stuffed, but it’s a great piece that I’ve had for 4 or 5 years now.

My other tip for frequent travelling is to keep a 2nd set of toiletries & makeup so I’m not constantly switching them between suitcase & home. And stuffing as many pairs of underwear/socks/stockings into the smaller pockets – you never know when you forget some! And a runner ball to massage feet (whether from running or from heels)

I have ok luggage, but I don’t travel all that much. If I did more travelling, a good carry-on would be essential…

(btw – my fave NY bloggers, that I can think of anyhow, for completely different reasons… http://willrunforbeer.blogspot.com/ and http://runninglam.com/ )

Having good luggage is a must if you have to do a lot of travelling! Looks like you got yourself a nice bag!

Funny you should ask… M. Hubby kinda broke the handle of my rollie bag and now it is really hard to extend and push back in to the bag. So when I go through security I always ask them to let me leave the handle out because it can take several minutes for me to get it back in. Such a pain!

I love my carry on luggage. I got it back in 2009 before we went to Hawaii. It’s Timberland brand (which if you know me, I love Timberland products). It’s one of the best pieces of luggage I’ve owned. I want to add a sturdy and larger check in bag at some point, and of course, it will be TImberland.
