Friday Question #139
Do you like wrapping gifts? Are you good at it? Do you have any gift-wrapping tips to share?
I really stink at wrapping gifts. In my mind, I am being really careful and precise, and they are going to turn out beautifully. No. Only in my mind.
Here are Gina and Courtney’s gifts (hopefully going out today!):
They almost look okay, despite the mis-matched ribbon. Then you see the back.
Oh.
Sigh. Maybe I should just put everything in a box, and wrap the boxes. Boxes are easier to wrap, right? Unless it’s a special kind of box…
Some years, I get so discouraged (lazy?) with wrapping that I put everything in gift bags. But this year I am really going to try NOT to do that.
I wish my mom lived closer so she could help me/teach me. She is really good at making presents look beautiful. Steven is actually really good at wrapping them too. You can give him some funny three-dimensional trapezoid shaped box, and he’ll make the wrapping paper look like a second layer of skin (if presents had skin that is*).
Side note: Has anyone noticed how Data makes his way in to most photos I take? What a dork.
*Can you tell I am still sick? I am making even less sense than normal.
Cute Data feet. 😉
I think your presents look really nice. I am a lot like you when it comes to wrapping gifts. I am sometimes decent at it and sometimes not. And sometimes I’m in the mood to wrap presents and sometimes I’m just not.
Does Data ever eat ribbon? Sully does if we aren’t careful and leave any where he can get to it.
Irregularly shaped presents are hard! That’s when I turn to a gift bag. My mom used to work in customer service at a department store where they did gift wrapping. She got really good at it. She’s showed me some tricks but they didn’t all stick.
I’m horrible at wrapping gifts. Every year I think it will be better but I think it only gets worse!
I dread wrapping presents. I don’t like wasting all that paper and people just rip it off anyway. I’d rather just give the presents in the bag from the store. I know it doesn’t look nice but it makes me feel better. Is this super lame?
Don’t worry…I do wrap presents – but under protest.
Sorry you’re still not feeling well! Get better, already! 🙂
EEEK! I am so excited!! They look great! Thanks for the preview!
I SUCK at wrapping. Steve has to help me with wrapping and his gifts usually go in gift bags. I’m such a waste when it comes to wrapping. I got this thing from QVC, called Gift Wrap in a Snap, and it’s basically adhesive wrapping paper with directions!
I love to wrap gifts! Can’t wait to buy the gifts so I can warp them!
Dax gets in all my pictures too. It’s like his birthright or something.
First off, those spatulas are awesome. Love them.
As for wrapping gifts, I’m ok at it. Nothing spectacular, but it looks nice. And it’s easy to open, as long as I tape in all the right places (and not too much of it).
Those look SO great! Way better than MY wrapping skills…I have none!
I’m not too bad at wrapping gifts. Decent, I guess. My mom is a pro at it. Hers ALWAYS come out looking professional, even on the hard to wrap presents!
(Also, I just looked at your avatar and realized…I picked up that exact same Santa shirt yesterday at Target! Haha. We’re shirt twins now! :))
Yay! Shirt twins!
Your presents look so cute! And Data feet make EVERY picture better…
I can wrap, and don’t mind doing it, but I never add anything extra to a package. No ribbons or bows or cute little trinkets on the outside. So it’s plain paper for me…kind of boring. Yours are much cuter!
I think they look so cute with the little spatulas on them. That was a great idea!
I hope you feel better soon.
I love having wrapped gifts, but I’m not very good at it. I always tape the ribbon mess down in back. :0)
I rarely put bows on gifts anymore because we have to travel with them and they get squished.
i LOVE wrapping presents. my biggest tip is to use wire lined ribbon for the gifts. you know, that stuff at craft stores. you can make bows really easily for them and they look GREAT! also, those fake berry stems or sparkly stems, are great to decorate the package!
I love wrapping presents–so long as they are boxes with square corners. I really hate using giftbags. Getting the tissue paper to look perfect stresses me out (for some stupid reason).
I think your gifts look great. No one looks at the back anyway…
i’ve become the joke in my family because i suck so bad at wrapping, i just put everything in a gift bag and shove some tissue paper down the sides and call it a day. and depending on how old the kid is, sometimes i just leave the gift in the plastic store bag (see also: my nephew’s second birthday).
I am so bad at wrapping gifts but my mom is AMAZING…I’ll have to remember to post some photos of her awesome wrap skills.
You should! And maybe she can give us a tutorial? 😉
I always have grand plans for wrapping then fall short. And my cats love to eat curled ribbon so I have to just use those pre-made bows. Little stinkers!
