Wishes do come true
Last night, during dinner at a restaurant with Steven, I said, “I hope my parents get me that Apples to Apples game for Christmas!”
Lo and behold, when I got home, there was an amazon box on our porch, with Apples to Apples inside! What a coincidence! Maybe tomorrow night during dinner I should say, “I hope my parents get me a Corvette Stingray for Christmas”? (With my luck, I would come home to a box with a Corvette Hot Wheels toy in it.)
We first played Apples to Apples on Thanksgiving when we had a bunch of friends over. We had so much fun playing it that I added it to my “wish list” the next day. I think I like the game so much because it is one of those “get-to-know-each” other games, and because it doesn’t take much talent! Ha ha ha.
I am wondering why my parents sent it to me so early though. Or rather, why they sent it to me at all. I won’t be seeing them until January, so maybe they wanted me to be able to play it in December?
It is really really weird that I won’t be seeing my family for Christmas until January this year. That means I don’t have to buy any gifts for them until after Christmas. I have only bought one Christmas gift, and that was for Steven’s brother, who we will be seeing on Christmas day (along with Steven’s parents).
Maybe that is why I am having such a hard time “feeling” the holiday vibe this year – because I am not out shopping with all the crazies at the mall!
You know your mother, saw it online, on sale, with free shipping so she had to jump all over that. Plus we thought maybe you’d want to take it to KC. Good luck with the vette!
i have heard that’s a super fun game. my family buys a new game every christmas. maybe this year that will be our purchase!
if i wasn’t going to be with my family, i’d have trouble getting into the spirit too.
We are big board game players in my family. I haven’t heard of Apples to Apples. I will have to check it out.
Of all the people that you guys are buying gifts for… I am the only one who’s gift has already been purchased? Me? I feel so special. Or was that just a ruse to put pressure on me to come up with something really good for you and Steven.
That is so funny! Last Thanksgiving (2006) some friends brought it over one night and immediately after, Shawn and I bought ourselves the game and also one for my sister and her family. We love that game!
Kim it’s going to suck not haveing you on Christmas Day . It’s not going to be the same. Next year we get to have you for Christmas right? … We have everyone done for x-mas presents. I was done about 3 weeks ago. Good Luck in KC . Have fun 🙂
Apples to Apples is a really fun game. There is group of us Roland-Story Moms who have a game night once a month and Apples to Apples is on the short list!
Hmmm – I’ve never heard of that game. Perhaps I will have to check it out. Mike loves games and he’s given me next to no suggestions for christmas this year….
What a funny coincidence however. I love when things like that happen!
I hope the christmas spirit finds you soon. I need to finish getting our walls painted so we can FINALLY clean up the house from the reno chaos and put up the tree. Because I’m just not feeling the Christmas spirit this year either…
Love that game. My friends and I play it often.
Dad – No Vette last night 🙁
sizzle – I definitely recommend it! You’ll have a blast playing it.
Robin – Again, I highly recommend it! 😉
Andrew – I am not trying to put pressure on you, that’s the truth!
Hilly – the funny thing is, I was a bit hesitant to play it (as I always am to a new game!), but once I did, I was hooked!
Courtney Ilax – I am not sure if I will be there next year. I hope so! I can’t believe you already have all your shopping done! I am jealous 😉
Jodi – that is a fun idea – to have a game night! I think this game would always be on the top of my list too!
suze – maybe the spirit will find me… next Friday when I have my “5-day” weekend 😉
Dave2 – I bet you are fun to play with. Are you the guy who always leaves the smart-ass red cards for the judge to choose from?
