Track me/see me at the Chicago Marathon
Some Chicago Marathon logistics:
If you want to track me while I am running the Chicago Marathon this Sunday the 10th, click here and enter my bib number: 16784.
I am not sure how many text updates it will send to your phone, but I will warn you that I will probably be running from around* 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, so the messages might be spread out.
My goal is to run between 11:00-11:15 minute miles, and hopefully finish under 5:00 hours. If I don’t, I won’t be upset.
If you are going to be at the race, you can look for me around those pace groups (maybe 10:45-11:30).
I am hoping to be wearing this outfit:
With these letters. If they don’t work, I’ll use electrical tape.
I have a feeling it’s going to be too hot for that shirt though. So I might wear this and just put “KIM” on it:
If it is freakishly cool I will wear this:
I am doubtful about that! Highs in the low 70s this Sunday. BOO on that! Yesterday everyone at work was excitably telling me it’s supposed to warm up this weekend. Yeah. Not so excited.
I do know it will probably be cool at the start, so I did get a $3 Salvation Army jacket I can throw away:
I’ll post what I decide to wear this Friday or Saturday, but I wanted to get this post up, in case you are too busy to look at it then!
If you are going to the expo, I think Erin and I will be there at some time on Saturday. We are still getting that figured out.
Some Chicago Marathon thoughts:
I am SO SO SO SO SO excited for the race. I am going out there to have fun, and I have a feeling I will find it. The only thing stressing me out is potentially meeting up with a few blogger friends and OF COURSE, making sure I see Steven during the race! I told Erin last week that I was more worried about seeing Steven while running than actually finishing the race!
I do wonder if I have some sub-conscious stress though. Last night I got an awful migraine (pounding headache, sensitivity to light, throwing up) and I wonder if it’s from stress? I don’t feel stressed!
Any marathon tips for me?
*The race officially starts at 7:30 am, but who knows when I will cross the start line!
HAVE FUN!!! with a course like chicago, soak every ounce of it up π have a great time!
Thanks aron!!!! π
You are awesome. Period. I wish I could come and cheer you on in person. That would be so much fun! π I think we should train together (well, in our respective states) and run together next year – if you decide later to run it next year anyway… That would be pretty darn amazing, girl! You INSPIRE me!
Aww, thanks Amanda! I am sure I will game for another and a year is plenty of time for you to train! Maybe we should do the Dam to Dam 20K π
Love love the bright yellow colors π I’ll be thinking of you on Saturday as you kick butt! Woo woo!
Thanks!!!
Hey Kim!
Can you explain a little better how your pace group would help us look for you in terms of where/when? Both you and my friend Janet are running but I’m still on the fence about going b/c I feel like I will not know where to go or I will be there at the wrong time and miss the people I know anyway. And I don’t want to go to the finish line because it is going to be sooooo crazy/crowded. (I will be cheering for you both regardless, even if it’s from my bed under my blanket with the kitties–hee hee!)
Do you remember last year how we saw people carrying signs with pace groups? I hope to be around those people, but it may not happen! So you could watch for them.
BUT… I will have my phone with me and you can send me a text of where you are! Maybe you can go to the same spot we did last year (near mile 8)?
I hope you come out! π
I am so torn about my race outfit now…I can’t decide – the temp’s at my “tshirt/tank top” edge.
I AM SO FREAKIN EXCITED. Like you – not stressing at all…just stoked.
Are you putting your name on the front or back?
They are supposed to be tracking at 10k, half mary, 30k, and the finish line.
I am torn too! I am going to wait until the last minute!
I am putting my name on the front and “26.2” on the back!
Thanks for the details about tracking. I hope it works!
Kimbot! I love it!
I hope I get to see you- I’ll be watching for peeps in various pace groups… So excited!!!
Definitely go sleeveless! You’ll freaking roast out there! I feel like the bad luck heat charm as I last ran Chicago in 2007. Ugh who’d have think it’d be hot? Well not horrific but still?
Take note of all the neighborhoods, the sights, the smells, the FOOD, and the fans and how they change as you go. Chi-town fans are AWESOME!!! And if it’s hot they’ll pull out their garden hoses and help. When the sun gets up over the buildings we’ll be heading south–stay to the left to maximize your shade.
I will be in a seeded corral–oh behave I know I can’t believe it either–but I will keep my eyes pealed for you at the expo.
I bet I will go sleeveless! Thanks for all the tips! I hope I am able to take it all in π
I am so excited you are in an actual corral! Any tips for me in the open corral?
Gosh! No running advice, but I will tell you I haven’t had ANY success w/ tracking bib numbers. Tried last year for the Chicago Marathon and didn’t get anything. Then, this past weekend, I signed up to track two runners in the Disney Wine and Dine, and got nothing again. π And yes, my cell # was verified both times by the registering event group. Boo! Sooo….I’m going to sign up for updates AND cross my fingers. I’m so excited for you!
Love all the outfits, but the yellow LS is a tad revealing… just sayin’.
Have fun on your final countdown to the BIG 10!
*hugs* from Orlando!
I am really doubtful the tracking will work too. Fingers crossed I guess!
Ha! The orange would be revealing too. I am always nipping π That is why the swirly one is a good idea π
Good luck. I have no advice π Your training has been pretty solid considering your injury earlier this year. You’ve got this! Have fun. π Can’t wait to hear about your adventure.
I’ve been obsessing over the weather for all you runners this weekend and I’m not even going to be in the state! You’re going to do great. Take a deep breath and try to visualize how you’ll feel crossing that finish line.
The morning might be cool but once you line up with 45,000 of your closest running friends it warms up fast. It was snowing last year and I was fine at the start! It’s going to take between 30-45 minutes to get to the start line so be patient. And HAVE FUN! Be sure to take in the city, the people, everything! Run your race π
Hahaha, LOVE the fashion show!
With the high temps, I’m definitely going sleeveless…
I am getting excited for you! Glad you modeled the outfits. It looks like I might try to make the race, and I definitely want to see you if I can. The letters on the shirt are a great idea π
I hope you get to do to the race! π
We’ll be out there cheering at multiple points, so I just signed up to follow you … hopefully I’ll see you at some point along the way.
My advice to you … don’t get your heart set on seeing Steven during the race. One time when I ran the Chicago Marathon and had my heart set on seeing my then-boyfriend, it became a total mind *uck when I didn’t see him at the place we agreed on … and it was one of those psychological barriers that I couldn’t shake the rest of the race (15+ miles). I was so mad at him and mad at myself for letting it get to me. So, my advice … go into this race knowing you’re going to have to get yourself from start to finish … and if you see someone you know along the way, then it’s a big old bonus to your day!
Good luck!
There is a slim chance we may be there since my sister in law is also running. But I have signed up to follow you.
My advise is simple, take a deep breath and take it all in!
Oh cool! I hope you watch! It’s a TON of fun! π
Hmmm, Chicago tips? Make sure you pack something warm (or cool?) to change into when the race is done. I was so relieved to have sweatpants waiting for me in my bag when I finished!
I’m so excited for you!! I hope you have a wonderful time.
Thanks for the tips! I am already thinking about what my post race outfit will be π Flip flops, something cool or warm… and FOOD. I won’t wear it but EAT it!
No tips from me, but I’m so excited for YOOOUUUUUU! Looks like yellow is the color you picked! I hope it’s a complete blast. And tell those weather people to be quiet. 72 would be great!
Even though I’ve been a mostly absent commenter on your workout/running posts, know that I am just as excited for you for this marathon. I like the different outfit options depending on the weather. That’s a well planned event.
Thanks Marty! π
I’m hoping to be able to get some pictures while at the Marathon on Sunday. My only fear is that the 3G and WiFi signals in Chicago will be so overloaded that accessing the bib tracker will be impossible and we’ll never know where anybody is. I’m hoping to be able to get pics of four people (you included, of course).
If I don’t talk to you before Sunday, good luck!
Oh yeah. The bib tracker probably won’t work at all. Send me a text that day with where you are and I will watch for you! So excited you’ll be there!
And thanks! π
So excited for you! My marathon is less than 2 weeks away and I’m also very nervous and started to plan things like outfits!
Can’t wait to track you and read your recap! I’m sure you’ll do awesome!
Oh cool! I didn’t know you were doing a full! Which one is it? π
Enjoy all that is Chicago! It is a fabulous city and great marathon.
I would go with the sleeveless and a long sleeve throw away. I know Nike did it in previous years, you can buy a shirt (any shirt) at Niketown and they will print whatever you want on it.
Remember when you get tried and sore, it all stops the second you cross the finish line and is replaced with the wonderful feeling of ‘I did it’
