It’s still not 100% surfacely healed, and it’s definitely going to leave some scars, but it looks and FEELS better than a month ago! Yay! (However, it’s still tender if I try to crawl on it or put any pressure on it. That may just be a hereditary thing.)
I’m totally over what happenedat Grandma’s (then why are you still talking about it, Kim?! muah ha ha, cause I CAN AND I WILL!!!), but randomly seeing things like this (below) makes me feel better – knowing that someone else also had a sh*t day from falling and couldn’t rally back 100%. (And yay that she got her redemption*!!!)
*What about MY redemption? Half of me likes the idea of running an October marathon, and the other half of me says “Do Dallas in December, after you lose more weight.” I am not sure which half will win. Probably the thinner half.
I do not know how you ran on it!!! you are so lucky that you didn’t break anything judging by the amount of bruising. So glad its feeling mostly better x
Gawd, if I broke something in my knee or leg from falling that would be BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD. Gah. I can’t imagine! And thanks, me too! I am eager for it to just be scarred and get on with it.
OUCH! I still think that you are a badass for finishing the marathon. Totally sucks that it didn’t go as planned, but you definitely showed grit (sorry, such a cliché these days, but totally true for you) out there. Sounds like a fall/early winter race might be on the calendar???
Obviously, I’m going backwards while I catch up on your blog, so I bet your knee is healed by now. (I hope it is anyway.)
Reading this, I felt guilty that I had forgotten about your knee and fall! I like reading your blog because it’s like chatting with your about your day (and we also chat), but it made me realize how distant I still feel when I can’t retain information about what’s going on in my friends’ lives. Maybe that’s part of being busy…you just have a lot of information coming in and out. Anyway, I’m sorry that I forgot and haven’t been checking in about how you’re recovering (physically and emotionally) from that bad race experience.
Oh man, don’t feel bad at all. I didn’t really want to make a big deal about it with friends and family, but I did want to follow up on the recovery here and post before and afters so I could look at it later and laugh. And you should NEVER have to keep up with crap here – no one should have to! I should be doing that via text and email!!!!

So glad to hear it’s better – after a full month, though, wow.
Thanks! I know, doesn’t it seem like it’s taking a long time?!

Thanks 🙂 Yeah, I am thinking about a fall marathon if I can shed some weight! But I’d skip it if I can’t 🙂
Your knee looks SO much better. That first picture is bonkers! Holy cow, the bruising! High five to bodies that are able to fix themselves!
Thanks! Isn’t it?! I was surprised by how much it bruised!!!!
