- Thank you for the supportive comments on my last post! My week has actually gotten worse (ha!) but I am feeling okay!
- Data and Khaleesi finished their roundworm medication, and to make sure it worked, we had to take in poop samples to the vet to be tested. The cats have two litter boxes, but while Khali only uses one, Data uses both. Sigh. So to make sure I knew whose poop I was scooping, I was super diligent about cleaning the litter boxes every time they were used, and watching to see who did what. I felt like the Poop Police. I didn’t think that was going to work, but I got a sample I know is from both of them! I was so excited and proud of myself. Ha. It’s the small (smell?) things, right? (Still waiting to hear back from the vet on the results.) Update: the vet called and said they’re both healthy and clear of worms!
- I finished First Ladies of Running, and am now reading The Salt Line (which I picked up at the free library in the train station), a dystopian novel set in the future, where the world is segmented in to safe “zones” away from killer ticks. Ha, great description! The story is about some people who pay to go on an adventure outside of the safe zones. The book is an uncorrected advance proof copy, and says to check the final copy before reviewing or quoting it. Interesting – I wonder if much changed!
- Runner’s World is still pushing advice to swish a sports drink and spit it out in their latest issue. Sigh. This time though, it’s not to avoid calories, but to get you mentally going for a run, OR if you don’t like the taste of it, but want to trick your brain in to thinking more carbs are on the way. WHY DOES THIS DUMB TIP MAKE ME SO ANGRY EACH TIME I SEE IT?!
- I bought one of the new Starbucks mugs! I wanted to get the Iowa one, and finally found a location that was not sold out (even though they said that they were at first, then decided to check while we waited for our chai lattes, and found some)! We tried to buy them in Iowa two weekends ago but every Starbucks we checked (about six of them) didn’t have any! Nuts!

Oh no! Let’s hope next week is better.
Worms are the worst. But they are country cats now it’s gonna happen 😝 Boomers on his heart worm medicine all the time but because there isn’t a blade of grass near us he hasn’t had flea preventatives in months. I check him all the time and have some to give him as soon as the weather gets hotter!
I do think that tip is stupid too. If your brain thinks you need it on a run you probably do. The only time I think it might be applicable is if your stomach is too sick for liquids.
Thanks! I hope so!
Ha! I am hoping now that they stay inside and don’t have any outside visitors, it WON’T happen again! Oh wow, why does Boomer always have to be on the heart worm med? Is that common for dogs? Cause they go outside to poo? I hope he stays flea (and heart worm!) free!
Right! They were like, swirl it if you don’t like the taste or stomach can’t handle it. Well, like, maybe if you got sick during a run using the drink you always use, but otherwise, find one you like enough to drink, that doesn’t bother your stomach. Ha.
Isn’t it funny the crazy things we do for our pets? We needed a urine sample for Sushi once and I had to follow her around the yard for like an hour with a little dish. She just kept looking back at me like “what the F** are you doing?”
I think Runner’s World must have a secret partnership with Gatorade. They are just trying to drive up sales. I agree- that advice drives me nuts! I already hate carrying fluids with me. I am certainly not going to carry them just to spit them out!
OMG! That is super crazy! And true love. Ha ha ha, I love that story. And I am guessing you were successful?!
I am wondering that. Like, don’t use drinks for energy if it does NOT work. Find something else. Like, so much duh, and “why do it?” Ha ha ha, carrying a hydration pack just to spit it out DYING.
That Iowa mug is really adorable – I’m so glad you found it!
LOL on your ire with RW’s dumb advice. I swear, some things just IRK.
I like this one too (obviously, ha)! Thanks, we were really excited!!!!
Ha ha, I need to LET IT GO though!
Oh no, I am sorry you are having such a rough week! I hope things improve soon. At least if you don’t have to be the Poop Policewoman anymore, that should be an improvement. I can certainly relate to your method of dealing with stress – eating all the things is my go-to, as well. It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t really help so much, right? Hugs to you and your family for whatever is going on.
Ha, not stressing about the cats’ health helps!!! Ugh, eating all the stuff momentarily helps but makes me feel worse in the long run! Blah! I need to remember that when I think it’s gonna help, ha.
Thank you!!!
