It happened!
GUYS!
It happened! I completed my SMART goal for 2018 and ate one vegan donut!
I was an overachiever and drove much farther than from my house to Milwaukee to get one… I drove from my house all the way to Mud Pie, in Overland Park, Kansas. That’s 575 miles. One way. FOR ONE VEGAN DONUT.
SUCCESS ACHIEVED.
Okay, in truth, I was in Overland Park for a late holiday celebration, and my nephew’s first birthday party. My snister, Christina, mentioned that Mud Pie Vegan Bakery recently opened near her home. We were going to fit in going there if we had time during our packed visit together!
Also in truth, I didn’t recall that they had donuts. Christina has been sending me drool-worthy photos of everything she gets, but I could only recall a scone and a bar.
So we get there, and I see they have donuts, and I tell my mom and snis, “Oh! I can complete my one goal for 2018 today!” and they are like “huh?” Ha.
So to be 100% HONEST and TRANSPARENT and REAL… it felt half-assed. Like I didn’t put the work in. I let my snister do it (she even had a Groupon!). And then it just happened that they had vegan donuts. It wasn’t even planned.
And I got a scone and a bar, too. And a chai! The donut wasn’t even the focus of the trip!
I had built this goal up to mean SO much in my head, but now that it’s over, and that it happened so randomly, I feel a little sad about it. Sad about how it all went down. Sad that it was the only thing I was going to accomplish this year, and it’s already over.
Ugh. What to do. Eat more donuts? Focus on something else?!
LOL! But, it was such a cute little donut! Don’t beat yourself up too much. I think it’s normal to feel some letdown after accomplishing a really big goal. Onwards and upwards! Build upon your success! Can’t wait to hear what new big goal you’ll be going after next.
It was teeny tiny! Ha!
It IS normal. Ugh. I just feel at a loss today! Ugh.
Ha ha ha.
Successfully make your own vegan donut? I would find that pretty impressive, and it would probably require a lot of effort and patience to perfect (maybe too much, haha)
We actually have all the equipment to make that happen too (baked or fried)…
Maybe you need to build on this success by setting monthly donut intentions. What other donut-related goals can you focus on, now that you’ve crushed this goal? Eat a donut in every state? Eat different types of vegan donuts? I do really like the suggestion of making your own – that sounds fun! (to me, at least)
That’s a good idea, and I feel like I have time to come up with something for February. I want to make sure it’s not just convenience based though, like this was!!!!!!
We have equipment to bake or fry them. I just don’t like to cook, or even really bake anymore… but I bet Steven would enjoy it. Ha!
LOL yeah, I did kind of think making donuts was more of a Steven goal. But if you want to set that as your February donut intention we can do it over Frosty weekend! I’d love to support your goal 🙂
Congratulations! I was starting to get worried that you were not going to have the opportunity to achieve your goal in 2018. If you do feel a lack of accomplishment satisfaction, however, you can always amend your resolution to include a Milwaukee-based vegan donut.
Thanks!
I may have to amend it to include that. Let me know if you want in on the action!
Frankly, I’m kind of sad you’ve already accomplished your goal, too, because I had really enjoyed the updates on your progress! But I believe in you. You clearly have the SMART concept down pat, so I’m confident you can come up with an even better, SMARTer goal to give you something to work towards as the year progresses! Though I am very happy for you that less than halfway through the first month of the year, 2018 could already go down as a 100% successful year for you from a goals standpoint. That’s quite the accomplishment!
Aww, I am glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for believing in me! I do agree I can come up with a SMARTer goal! Although… it could mess up my perfect success record!
Congratulations on a successful 2018!It was a good one with sprinkles 🙂 but it look small lol SO just one for the whole year?!
Thank you, thank you!!! It was small! I hope that won’t be the only one. I really want one from the place in Milwaukee but we just haven’t been up there!
Mmm, I’d say congratulate yourself on achieving your goal and then come up with an equally fun one. (Then again, I’ve been seeing a fair number of vegan donuts in SF, so I hope you’ll extend this goal too!)
I think that is a good plan! GAH! But how will I decide WHICH one to try in SF? Can we try them all? Donut Crawl?!
I am dying – you crack me up, Kim! Glad you accomplished your goal so quickly, and I hope you find more vegan donuts this year – maybe go for 18 in 2018?
I am glad it’s making you laugh! 🙂 I like that goal – 18 in 2018!!! Ooooo!
