Notes:
- When I went to ride my bike Thursday one of my tires was completely flat! Gah! Thankfully I looked at it before my ride on Sunday. I’d had the same tubes and tires for four years and was planning to get them replaced this month. To the shop it went! My mechanic was super excited to put newer “faster” tires on my bike, ha ha.
- A freaky thing happened after my Friday swim – one of my ear buds stayed in my ear when I took my headphones out, and I couldn’t get it out with my fingers! Anne tried too, and no luck. I figured I’d just have Steven use tweezers when I got home, but after it dried out a bit (about ten minutes later) I was able to get it out. Phew.
- My parents were here this weekend and we worked out together all weekend! Dad rode with me while I ran Saturday am, then Mom came to Fitness Boxing. She hits HARD and is a natural!
- On Sunday, Dad and I did the Ramble – an organized ride out here put on by the Bicycling Club of Lake County. We were aiming for the 30 or 50 mile option (there were routes over 100 miles!) and ended up with 30. We both felt a bit wiped out by the small inclines and annoying wind. But that wind was probably a good thing this weekend – it was in the 90s here and I think that’s the only thing that didn’t make it miserable! The event was very well organized, and the volunteers were great. It was fun to ride with Dad, but I am used to RAGBRAI where we can ride next to each other because there are so many cyclists we take over the road. We couldn’t do that on this ride, so we didn’t get to be as social.
Scary about the stuck earbud. I didn’t realize people swam with headphones! I once stayed at a hotel where the piped in music underwater which was very cool.
I asked for the earbuds and water-proof set for Christmas – I thought I’d swim longer if I was listening to music! The problem is that you have to push it in so far so water won’t get in around it! I like the idea of the underwater music!!!
Ooh what kind of tires did you get? I actually still have the original tires on my road bike – going on 6 years. But I am replacing them this year as they are pretty squared off.
How did you like the route for Sunday’s bike? I ride on some of those same roads and you can actually ride all the way to Lake Geneva that way! The wind was tough this week-Matt and I rode on Saturday-but it probably did help keep things cooler!
I think it’s these – the Clement Strada LLG (https://www.competitivecyclist.com/clement-strada-lgg-120-tpi-tire-clincher). I hope you like your new tires!
I thought the route was decent! Some of the course did go very close to Lake Geneva… the 100+ option, ha ha. The wind DID help keep us cool! It’s funny how a slight wind can make me so stabby on my bike!
Go fast tires!! That’s weird with the earbud. I’d freak out ha ha
I was trying not to!!!
Eek glad you got that earbud out! And that you worked out with your parents! How fun. I would love to do that. My dad goes on bike rides and my mom would play volleyball with me, but I don’t do much of either.
Maybe your dad would ride with you while you run, like mine does! 🙂
The ear bud thing has happened to me before. It’s totally freaky. What kind of new tires did you get? Fred just replaced mine too and said they were much faster. I’m sure he’s right! They were pretty expensive though. Love all of your workouts with your parents. That is really fun.
The earbud thing was SO freaky! I am not sure how to prevent it! The only thing different this time was that I didn’t put vaseline on the bud before I put it in.
He put the Clement Strada LGG tires on my bike. Don’t know anything about them – just needed new tires, ha!
