Chevron baby blanket

Baby William’s blanket is done – and before my snister’s shower this weekend! Yay!

Um… those bunnies though? They’re still a work in progress. The baby isn’t due until the end of January. I have time!

I used this pattern from espacetricot.com for the blanket. I couldn’t make gauge with the spacing I wanted, so I ended up adding an extra twenty-four stitches to make it the width I wanted.

I started knitting this blanket on September 17 and finished it around October 26. The pattern is simple and easy to memorize – I used the pattern for the first few rows then never looked at it again.

However, I did end up restarting this blanket! I just couldn’t deal with it NOT being perfect. I was about forty rows (the final is one hundred eighty rows) in to the first iteration and cast off to start a new one.

But that was fine, because I used that smaller blanket to test out how it would handle being washed in the washing machine. I was REALLY nervous about washing this. I was sure it was going to fall apart, and get weird when it dried. Thankfully, it didn’t do either!!! And luckily, I didn’t make any mistakes in the second iteration, woot woot!

I know it seems odd that I am posting this before the shower, but this blanket isn’t a surprise for my snis. I showed her the pattern, she helped me pick out the yarn, and I’ve been sending her pictures of my progress. I want it to fit in in her beautiful nursery, and I think it will!

Thank you to Mica and Shelley for their knitting help, and to Steven for taking these photos!

    Yay something happy! 🙂

The blanket looks beautiful! What a wonderful gift for your future nephew 🙂 I still treasure the blanket my aunt knit for me (I was a kid, so not a baby blanket), and I bet he’ll do the same.

It looks AMAZING! You did such a great job. I needed something pretty and uplifting, so thanks for sharing it with all of us.

I worry about having my hand-knit gifts be a surprise, but I like how you two worked together on this. It was probably more enjoyable for both of you that way.

Also, great job, Steven, on the photos! I need him to come take some photos of my stuff. 🙂

Thank you! I am happy this post was what you needed on that day.

It worked out well! And she sent me a pic of it last night in the nursery and it looks good!

We should come so Steven can do a photoshoot 😉 His pics are a thousand times better than my phone ones!

You did a great job – the color combinations, the stitching, the pattern – and it blocked out beautifully. What a lovely gift!

Also, that nursery is so darn cute…a very happy place for a much-loved baby!

I love the way knitting looks. Sometimes crochet just doesnt look that way. I am almost done with the baby blanket I am making. I just found out three friend/family members are having babies in May. I need to get started now because I know I wont has as much time once baby #2 comes.

I feel that way about some crochet patterns. All the less uniform stuff seems to be crochet. Which I don’t mean in a bad way at all! Knitting seems more rigid.

Keep going on those blankets! Are you finished on the first one now?

    That looks so pretty!!

I absolutely love this blanket and hopefully will now be motivated to try to figure out how to read a pattern. Can you share what type of yard you used?
Also, does your sister know where that ottoman in her nursery is from? It’s a beautiful nursery by the way. I’m not great at interior design so my kids’ rooms are very basic (and Veda’s room isn’t even finished yet…)

    • Christina says:

Thank you for the compliment! The ottoman was from Target, a couple years ago. Not sure if they still have it!! The top comes off so you can store things inside!

    • kilax says:

Thanks! It’s “I Love This Cotton” from Hobby Lobby.

She got the ottoman at Target a few years ago 🙂

  12. The blanket is beautiful!! Super cute nursery too!

Although I just read the pattern and they reference the “boy” blanket and the “girl” blanket…..meh.

I should have said “great blanket work” on this post instead of the Random post. Nice photos of the progress.
