No scheming this year
Today is my dad’s 60th birthday! Happy Birthday Daddio!
That pic is from the last time I saw him – the bike jersey was a “thank you for helping us with house work” present, and after opening it, he said I better not get him a birthday gift. I listened! He just got a card.
I did NOT listen for his 50th birthday. He specifically said he did NOT want a surprise party, and my siblings and I schemed to plan him one (see 10/7 post here). We held it early, on his grandson’s birthday, and pretended it was for him, not my dad. Ha! My dad figured it out when he got to the parking lot because one of his friends with a very unique car had parked out front.
Now, ten years later, I totally get why he didn’t want a surprise party. But I don’t regret throwing him one! Party or not, I wish I could have seen him today!
Wow, you were really sneaky! I’ve never been good at surprises…I think the coordination stresses me out.
Happy birthday to your dad!!
Been good at planning them? Or having a surprise thrown for you? 🙂
Congratulations to your Dad! October birthdays rock!
They do! We have a TON in our family! 🙂
We threw a surprise party for my mom’s 40th birthday – she was baking Christmas cookies in sweats when EVERYONE she knew showed up at our house. So a bit too much of a surprise LOL
My dad’s turning 70 next year (my parents are a bit older than yours!) so I’m sure we’ll do something special, but probably not a surprise party. Anyway, happy birthday to your dad!
Ha! That really was a surprise! 🙂 I hope you do do something fun for your dad!!!
Awww! I think a party is a great idea 🙂 It is so fun your Dad does the rides with you and was there to help you with your house 🙂 The jersey was a nice gift!
Yes! I love riding with my dad. And that is he ALWAYS willing to help us! It’s so great that we can count on him!
Your dad looks great for 60. And still very active joining you for various runs and other outdoor activities. That’s awesome.
Thanks! I love that he is active and accompanies me on my workouts! I really enjoy that time with him!
