Random Thoughts Thursday 108
- I was going through our mail and came across the county trail map and thought “I wonder when they’ll finish extending the Millennium Trail toward my house,” then looked at the map, and saw that more of the trail exists by me than I realized, and that it goes through a preserve with a 2.2 mile loop right by my house that I haven’t visited even though I’ve lived here seven months. AHHH!!! Must get there asap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I went the next day, ha!)
- Last year, Anne told me about a local park district that has indoor lap swim, but neither of us ever checked it out. I’ve missed swimming, so I went there Wednesday am for their open swim. It’s a nice big gym that’s close to my house (!!!!) with a 21 yard pool where you can pay a $6 drop-in fee to swim. I actually didn’t mind the shorter lanes, since I am still working on my freestyle endurance. I’ll be back! (And bonus, it’s close to Starbucks!)
- We were so eager to put holes in our newly painted walls, ha! We put up a new “smart” thermostat on Tuesday, as well as my jewelry holders. Yay! I can’t wait to put up the rest of (or most of) our art, framed prints, and my medal racks.
Steven’s “You really want me to put holes in this freshly painted wall?!” face.
- For all that mention of our house inspection approval being held up because we didn’t have attic insulation, I don’t think I ever posted a picture of it installed! Here you go! So exciting!
- All I had to do was blog about the pond being gone and we got some rain to create a bigger puddle!
We live super close to Millennium Trail! Just south of Mcdonald’s Woods! There are still a ton of forest preserves that I want to check out near our house. Ironman is Sunday so after that I hope to get to some more!
Oh, awesome! You can basically take that all the way to Lakewood, with just a few sidewalks/roads between Rollins and Fairfield! I hope you do get to check out more after the race – hope you have a great time!
That sounds like a great swimming option! How cool that they sent a trail map in the mail. I hope you liked the new trail 🙂
It is! Ha, I should mention though, the pool is shallow and I accidentally scraped my knee on it! Ha!
Yes! Our county preserve system here is DA BOMB. Seriously. They send out a quarterly newsletter full of information and upcoming events and include a trail map with each issue. I love how much money (and care!) they are putting in to nature here 🙂
And the new trail was nice! It’s good to have so many options!
Oooh I want a trail map! Where did you get it?
Your jewelry hangers are a lot nicer than the command hooks I use for my necklaces 🙂
I got it in the quarterly print newsletter (it’s the last page of each newsletter). You can sign up here – http://lcfpd.wufoo.com/forms/horizons-quarterly/. They have them at some preserves, too 🙂 And you can print them online! http://www.lcfpd.org/assets/1/7/Countywide_Map_and_Guide_July_20161.pdf
LOL!
Drilling holes in the walls after freshly painting – that’s how I feel about using the bathroom after I’ve cleaned it….but you still gotta use it! haha
That’s awesome you have a trail right nearby! Silly question but it’s come up so often lately – do you feel safe running there by yourself? I hate that we have to think about this more these days (or the news makes us think about it more).
Ha, true!
I do feel safe on the trails (by my home and in Chicago). I don’t feel as safe in the city my home is associated with anymore, since we’ve had a stabbing and a killing (by blunt object) in the downtown area this summer.
Ooh I think I’d also cringe about putting holes in your beautiful walls (plus, I’m terrible at hanging things!), but it looks great!
Your blog post was a rain dance, then? Glad you found an indoor pool so you can keep swimming in the winter! Our pool is 25 meters long, that is about the same, I think…I don’t mind the length, gives me a chance to catch my breath!
It was! Ha! I hope we get more rain 🙂
Me too! I really enjoy it and find it relaxing. And yes, don’t mind time to catch my breath, ha!!!
