Even MOAR visitors (again!)!!!

For the past three nights, Data has had a late night date with his new friend, and I finally got a picture of them together:

They decided to bring the party outside our bedroom window last night – that raccoon was VERY close to us, ha!

As long as that raccoon stays out of our attic and doesn’t destroy anything… he is welcome to visit. But that he’s hanging out on the second floor balcony has me a bit suspicious.

Sorry for all the odd reflections – flash was the only way to capture him!

It’s funny that Data doesn’t have the same reaction to the raccoon as he does to Denali or the deer. He growls at them (and hisses at Denali and tries to swat him/her), but he sings his excited “bird” song to this raccoon and chases it around like they’re playing. I wonder how many more late night dates they’ll have.

Data seems to be settling in to the new house quite well! He’s been eating like normal and using his litter box regularly since we moved in. He’s found all the sunny spots to lay,

and since I took him outside for the first time this week, he’s been crying to go out every day. I see lots of walks in our future.

He does seem to be spending A LOT of time sleeping in the bedroom… and I wondered if he was depressed or something. Then I remembered he’s a cat. And that the bedroom is a safe spot during all the construction on the house! He hasn’t hidden under the bed in a long time, so that’s good!

I think Data is a country boy at heart and is finally home!! I know you were stressed about how the move would affect him so I’m happy that he has settled in so nicely.

  2. Maybe he thinks it’s another cat! You get all the fun visitors all I get here are flying cockroaches. I didn’t know if people brought their cats for walks it nice that you do πŸ˜ƒ

I wonder! Is this a sign we can get another cat?! LOL

Eww. Eww. And, eww. I kill A LOT of bugs, daily, here. Normally I’d let them free outside but we have so many since the house was sitting a long time.

It’s not usual for people to walk their cats, but Data likes it, so I do it πŸ™‚

Awwww! I mean ewwwww! πŸ™‚ I’m happy Data isn’t stressed the eff out by the new visitor. I’m actually surprised he seems to like it. I wonder how long the raccoon will keep visiting you guys. CB would go completely nuts if it was on the balcony like that. (I know that for a fact since I had a family of them living in a tree near my balcony in Alameda) he would be inconsolable when they were around- either in the tree or on the balcony. πŸ™

so freaking happy Dates seems to be adjusting well to the new house. I bet outside is nice for him- he can smell all the scents left behind from the visitors πŸ™‚

I wonder, too! No show last night – Steven thinks because of the rain. OMG, XB would LOSE it!!!!!!! He better not visit πŸ˜‰

Thanks for being happy for us! πŸ™‚ He has A LOT to explore out here and seems to love it! (well, when he isn’t sleeping)

Aw, Data. I’m glad you’ve found sunny spots to lounge in. And his friend is adorable! Hopefully he behaves so he can stick around to be featured in more blog posts. πŸ˜‰

    • kilax says:

Hee hee! I hope he behaves too! We just put the squirrel trap on the house – don’t want to have to trap this guy!

  5. Lesley says:

Make sure your attic is sealed! My parents get foxes sometimes, and it spooks their boys, but then the boys aren’t scared by the moose who stop by.

    • kilax says:

Our attic is not sealed – we already have critters up there that we are working on getting out. Hopefully there aren’t holes big enough for this guy.

Funny your parents’ pets don’t mind the bigger animals!

  6. I think our cat would kill me if I tried to put her on a leash. At first I was VERY confused about the location of that raccoon. Definitely took me a minute to realize it was out on your balcony and not INSIDE your bedroom. I was like HOW IS SHE OK WITH THIS!? So funny that it keeps coming back to hang with your cat. Our cat hides in our bedroom to and I think she likes our current apartment more than our last one. She came out right away when we moved- we also have a window seat for her in our bedroom and a chair that was supposed to be my reading space but now is completely covered in black fur.

It took Data a few seasons to get used to the leash, but he did!

Ha! Now that would be scary if he was inside! Sorry the pics were confusing πŸ˜‰

Aww, sounds like you have the purrfect set up for her at your place – as it should be!

That is really funny how differently Data reacts to the raccoon! He’s such a cute kitty and I love how strong his personality is. Glad he’s adjusted to the new place so well.

That first photo of Data and the raccoon “interacting” is so cute! Data is SUPER interested!

I always think of raccoons as really cute, but up close, they’re a little creepy and hump-backed.
