Notes:

  • Sigh, after busting out a new pair of shoes last week, all of a sudden, my other pairs feel like they don’t have any support. Darnit, I specifically rotate shoes to try to avoid this! I guess I am not doing a very good job of that!
  • Whoa… last week’s long run was much easier than this one! Ha ha, let’s bring that cool weather and low humidity back! Or, let’s at least have it at the marathon!
  • I totally bonked at mile 16 of my long run. I think I need to eat some real food when I run, but I am not sure how the heck I can carry it since we aren’t allowed to wear our water vests. Might have to get creative… or ask someone to meet me on the course with food
  • The time during my solo runs this week were spent day-dreaming about a tropical vacation. But I still remembered to focus on my form! Gotta keep that up!

Sorry your having a marathon fueling conundrum! It’s a bummer that you can’t easily carry food with you for the race. Looks like your runs aside from the long run went really well. Sorry the heat got to you and you bonked, but I suppose it’s better to bonk in a training run rather than bonking during the race!

Yay taper time! Today’s run went pretty well, I was glad for the weather – yesterday definitely seemed rougher.

Not being allowed to wear the vests is lousy. What kind of thing does that even safeguard against?

I am happy you had a good LR! I wish I could have done mine on Sunday!

Eh, I guess if you wanted to have an explosive in it, but you can create a weapon out of anything.

Our plan was initially Saturday but I had a trail race, so we moved it – the trail race was a whole lot hotter than Sunday!

        That’s lame. I don’t see how that’s any different than a handheld.

Maybe one of the large pouch spi belts? They seem like they’d hold a lot…get kinda mushy squished to your stomach, but unless they can meet you on course that could be tough 🙁

  3. Pam says:

It was a rough weekend for running here too. It got hot again! Good job sticking it out for 22 miles in spite of it. I was DONE after six. lol And I didn’t do it much faster than you did your 22.

  4. Rachel says:

I still can’t believe the water vest ban at Lakefront. I was telling the Appleton gang about it this weekend and they all thought it was completely ridiculous!

Do you think you will use the new shoes for the marathon then?

  5. Chaitali says:

That’s impressive that you were able to concentrate on form and day dream about a tropical vacation at the same time! I hope you find a solution to the fuel issue for the race. The last minute rule change is sad 🙁

  6. Sorry your long run didn’t go better! If you were less endowed like me, you could stow food in your bra 🙂 Depending on what food you want, could you pin it to a bib/race belt? A sandwich might not work but a baggie of granola bar pieces might. Or, hide them under a hat because that would be SEXY. Just a thought.

I should try some of that this week and see what works! I worry about it bouncing around and being annoying… which is a good reason to try it. Ha ha. 🙂
