Notes:

  • I’ve noticed a pattern in my weekly workouts – I’m usually physically tired and sometimes achy for my Tuesday morning shakeout run. It makes sense. I take my rest day on Wednesday (so I haven’t rested in awhile), and I teach class Monday night (so  I’m sometimes sore from that). I was excited for my Wednesday rest day this week…  then I remembered I was teaching class that night! Ha ha, oops! But it was so fun to be back at the Wednesday night class. I took that class almost every week for about two years! We had a fun crew! Do you take your rest day on the same day each week?
  • Some firsts this week – first yoga class at the studio (another instructor did a practice class on us), first outdoor ride of the year and first “trail” run of the year! It was in the 30s and kind of windy for the ride, but I was so happy to be out on my bike! I just got it tuned up and it road so smoothly! And it was fantastic to be on the crushed limestone trail on Sunday – I prefer that surface over paved and miss it when it’s covered in snow and ice!
  • One more first! Data’s first walk of the year!

Awesome training program… I wish the weather was a bit nicer to take my cat out for a walk but still too cold!

  2. bobbi says:

Only one picture of me. Sniff.

So glad you actually got to ride outside this week!!!!

Awww…did data love getting outside too?

    • kilax says:

Sniff! Bad week! Can you do the half on Sat? Or do you want to run long Sunday? I just have to wait until my house guest leaves in the am 🙂

He did! Then all day he was a whiny about going back out and being naughty for attention. I forgot how he gets like that! LOL

      • bobbi says:

I don’t know! I need to wrap my brain around the timing. If it’s early enough, I probably will, but not sure about getting food after – that might be cutting it a bit close…

  3. Amy says:

How cute! Does data walk well on a leash? I have never seen a cat really enjoy being on a leash.
I used to take to rest days (from running) a week on Thursdays and Sundays and it was perfect. Lately, I have been running 6 days a week and resting on Wednesdays, but I think I still get too tired and sore if I only take one rest day, no matter how easy I take some of my other days. I think after this marathon is done, I am cutting back on the running for a while!

    • kilax says:

He walks decently! Not like a dog, as in, he leads us, but he doesn’t mind being in the harness. And I think it’s a safer way to let him explore outside than without it 😉

I hear ya, those 6 days in a row ADD up!!! Even if some are easy runs!

  4. Amy says:

No specific rest day for me, it depends.

Glad you were finally able to get outside with your bike and Data!

  5. Chaitali says:

That’s so cute that you took your cat out for a walk! I have two indoor cats that never get to go out and I’ve been thinking about trying this. How was he the first couple times? I’m worried they’ll hate it or love it so much that they’ll see a squirrel and run away from me.

    • kilax says:

It took Data a season to get used to the harness, read: act like he wasn’t being strangled to death in it! But now he doesn’t mind having it on and while he does run after stuff, I am able to hold him back, if need be, with the leash! Let me know if you give it a try! Be patient! LOL 😉

  6. Erin says:

So jealous you got out on your bike!! What did you wear to stay warm?

    • kilax says:

I had on a long sleeved tee and two jackets, liner gloves and cycling gloves, cycling capris and liner capris under, and knee high socks. And a headband and gaiter. Just my toes were cold! I need those bike toe covers. Ha, probably not. I’d only use them a few times a year 🙂 Are you going out on your bike soon?

  7. Pete B says:

Looks like data had fun in the sun. Nice training week!

  8. Meghan says:

I definitely don’t take the same rest day each week. I suppose life has just become unpredictable with the baby, but I find that my workouts are a day by day basis, so as such, so is the rest day!

YAY for outdoor biking! I swear, I need to get a bike…

  9. Michelle says:

I try to be flexible with my rest days, because you never know what life will bring you each week! My goal is to be consistent with running 3 times per week, and 2 days of cross training. Looking forward to getting my bike out, too!! Still a bit chilly for me!

  10. Kristina says:

I used to move the rest day around, but now that I’m following a “real” schedule (paying someone to make a schedule for me), I try to follow it as much as I can. With the uptick in training these days, I can’t tell you how much I look forward to the recovery days, but they also feel a bit strange – like “what to do with all of this time?!”.
As for cycling outside, I would still consider in the 30s to be way too cold to get outside. You definitely are tougher!

  11. Michele says:

Okay, so your week was great…BUT…

Data on a leash has me cracking up over here!!! I mean seriously…I’ve never seen a cat on a leash!!!! Hahahaha

I mean this in the most kind way, really!!

    • kilax says:

Aww, that is right! You haven’t been reading long enough to know that we walk Data! Yeah, we are nuts, but he loves it! 😀
