An odd request

I hope people are complaining about me behind my back.

Ha ha ha. Wait. I am sure lots of people are, um, but probably not for the specific thing I am thinking about.

I hope the students that take the strength class are complaining about me behind my back. Mostly, complaining about my workouts – that the workout’s tough, that is makes them feel challenged… that it leaves them sore in a good way.

Students often mention in my class if they are sore/tired from other classes (or their own workouts), and it just made me wonder if my classes ever get mentioned in that way. I hope so! If not, I need to work harder!

When you take a fitness class, do you expect to feel challenged/sore (in a good way)/tired from it? I don’t mean sore/injured. Just challenged, like you worked hard and your body feels it. Maybe your abs hurt a bit when you laugh, from so many plank-ups. Or you feel your shoulder muscles burning from lateral extensions. Or you’re toilet sore from so many squats. Ha ha.

And yes… it makes no sense that I am asking for complaints after writing this on Thursday! Maybe I should say, I hope people are commiserating about my classes. There we go. That sounds better.*

*Although, this definition of the word makes me think I have been using it somewhat wrong.

I haven’t taken a fitness class in quite some time, but recall when I had a trainer cussing him out a time or ten, LOL!

Yes, I expect to feel sore. If I don’t, I feel like I didn’t work hard or go heavy enough. That said, I did running drills Thursday followed by hills on Friday and my upper calves are in the most agony ever. Can we say out of shape?

If I’m not sore, I wimped out or the class sucked. I don’t feel like it was money well spent if I don’t feel it.

That said, I rarely complain behind your back – I usually do it to your face, lol…

Ha ha ha. I miss your complaining to my face. We need to get back to that 😉

And that is how I feel too. Although… sometimes I need to wimp out, shh… 😛

you are looking strong! (and awesome!)

Yes, I want it to be hard. There is nothing worse than wasting your workout time for the day and feeling like you didn’t get a good workout.

I once took a boot camp class that left me sore for days. It was a crazy amount of soreness. I kept going back though bc I didn’t want to hear smack talk from the instructor. Ha! I also may have enjoyed the pain a little. Or at least the bragging rights that went along with it.

I definitely want to be challenged!! Considering the cost of most classes ($10-25/each), I want to get my money’s worth!! If I go to a class and am not challenged or learn something new, it bothers me … I can work out for free in the fitness center at work, so if I don’t get *something* out of the class, it’s a waste of money in my opinion.

The two classes of yours that I’ve been to have been challenging and fun! And I’ve learned new moves.

Good point, with how much it costs to attend things. I think I spend upwards of $20 to try out Shred 415. It turned out to be an interesting workout where I felt challenged and learned some things, but I would have been annoyed, if I hadn’t!

Thanks! I am happy to hear that!

I like a fitness class like the total body class I go to, to get my heart rate up. I don’t always get sore from it but I want it to be a decent strength workout. Now that I am pregnant, I do get sore the next day which I guess is normal because of my growing belly.

  9. Erin says:

Oh yeah, I want to be sore!! But when I’m not I don’t know if it’s because I didn’t use heavy enough weights or if I was just in too good of shape already. It’s probably the former. I think I pick too light of weights, especially when I know it’s going to be a lot of reps.

If I can sit down, lift something or cough without pain the next day, then I feel like I didn’t get a good enough workout. Fear not, I ALWAYS feel sore after working out with you! (not in the same way as when I “work out” with Henry, ha ha!)

    • kilax says:

Ha ha ha – is that your perfect train trifecta?! (also, apparently that is completely wrong use of the word, according to online dictionaries)

I am happy to hear you feel sore after our workouts. LOL, and I know how Henry makes someone feel 😉

  11. Mica says:

I take classes so infrequently that I know that any class I take should make me sore afterward. If I were to go regularly, I would want to feel some soreness, but I don’t want that debilitating soreness (from taking a class for the first time) to be a constant thing. Being too sore to run makes me unhappy.
