Random Thoughts Thursday 49
I prefer to write “one topic” posts, except on Thursdays, so thanks for reading all my posts this week! I’ve got a few more things I want to write, but will try to include as much in here as I can.
- I was signing some documents yesterday thinking, “gosh, it’s crazy how much a signature means!” And it wasn’t even a work document this time! Steven and I signed a loan to expand FakeMeats.com! We’re moving in to a larger space this weekend! EXCITING!!! Yes, all of those exclamation points are valid, ha ha. I am so proud of Steven. The business has grown so much due to his hard work and passion for it!
- A celebratory dinner had to follow, so we checked out Quesadilla La Reina del Sur – a vegetarian/vegan Mexican restaurant in the city. Of course, I had to get a vegan quesadilla! And a Jarritos and cupcake to share with Steven. I told him, “I am trying to lose weight again.” Which for me… means still eating out, but splitting dessert. Ha ha.
- Speaking of losing weight, I asked Steven’s brother Andrew if he wanted to have a weight loss competition with me from mid June to the end of August. Andrew is the perfect person to do this with, because we are sarcastically competitive with one another, but also, feel completely open and comfortable with one another. At least, I do. Anyway! The person who lost the higher percentage would win, and the “loser” had to buy their next race entry. Ha ha ha. Andrew won. I think I gained a pound or two. So why did I tell Steven I am “trying to lose weight” again? Because I am running a marathon in November, and at this point, the (road) marathon distance is a “run to race,” rather than “run solely for fun” distance for me. And lighter Kim = faster Kim. Maybe someday, my healthy weight range goals will be health and not pace related. Maybe…
- I can’t seem to find a solution to get the excessive stank out of my workout clothes, so I bought some new clothes… and was still stanky. I finally figured out the schmell was my sports bras. It makes sense – they get the most use! I went to Tarjay to pick up the Champion C9 Shaper bras I usually buy, and horror of horrors, they don’t seem to sell them anymore. So I ordered a new kind of Champion bra to try from Amazon. Of course, I had to get an orange one (and four black ones, ha ha).
- Have you heard of StickK.com? I saw this little blurb about it in Women’s Health. It’s a site where you set a goal, and incentives to reach it. I am not clear from the site, but this blurb made it sound like one of the motivators is to have money go to an “anti-charity” (a charity you don’t support) when you miss a goal milestone. What do you think about using a negative motivator like that? Is it even negative? I know a few of you said there were charities you don’t do races for, since you don’t support them. I am wondering which charities those are!
- I got Steven an iPad for our anniversary, and we wanted to use it to see if Data would play with any of the cat apps, ha ha! He did! Until he figured out the fish were on the screen (not real – he was reaching under the iPad to try to get them) and said “eff this!”
- And if we are Facebook friends you already saw this, but I love the Yoda hat and Star Wars mice my snister’s cat (Data’s cousin, Dexter) sent Data! And I love the Leia buns Dexter is wearing… I am not sure she loves them, though!
- Okay, okay, there might be another post later. I have a fun giveaway contest idea, just not sure of the prize yet!

I have been doing in-home research regarding getting the stink out of our workout clothes. So far a cup of Borax along with regular detergent is winning 😉
So… can I just give you a bag of clothes Monday night to test your research on?
BUAH HA HA! Kidding! No one should have to touch those.
Congrats on expanding fake meats! That is awesome. I feel like I should start a business of my own because even though its a lot of work at least then I would be in control and wouldn’t have to deal with people being stupid. But its tough – I don’t think I could start an engineering firm cause Im just not that good but maybe a bakery would be fun. Its just a lot of work – I give you guys a lot of credit for doing it!
Thank you!
I think if that is a dream of yours, you should go for it!
And… unfortunately, you do still have to deal with people being stupid… if your business interacts with people. LOL!
Congrats! I am so excited your business is expanding 🙂 *doing the snoopy dance*
Thanks so much!!! 😀
Bra twinsies! 🙂
I love Data’s yoda ears – purrfect! And I didn’t even know there were “cat apps” – hilarious!
That quesadilla looks amazing – what did you think of their food?
Gosh, too bad the temps are going down and we can’t be public twinsies. Buah ha ha.
I liked mine! It used a vegan cheese that is not my fave, so my stomach is a bit “meh” today, but I loved the veggies in there, their homemade fake meats, a touch of cheese and best of all… HOMEMADE TORTILLA! OMG SO GOOD!
Congrats on the expanding business. I had know idea there were cat apps, where have I been?
Maybe there are dog apps too! Um… that seems like a bad idea! 😉
Woohoo for FakeMeats!!! I am excited about the warehouse for y’all!!
Data looks SO handsome (I was tempted to say cute!) in his Yoda ears!! Dexter is so cute too!! Cute (handsome) cats must run in your family!!
That cracks me up that Data was playing with cat apps on the iPad!!
=^..^=
Congrats on Fake Meats! That’s so exciting!!
I love cats in costume so I obviously LOVE the picture of Data. My friend brought Sonic an evil unicorn horn to wear but he didn’t like it at all :(.
congrats on your big move!!! I LOVE watching the cat go crazy with our ipad, it’s hilarious
congratulations on the success with the business – good for you guys!!!
Data is too smart to be fooled for long by an app – love it!
Oh no! If I wasn’t stuck in a flood I would rush over to Target right now to see if those bras are there! I love them so much. I don’t run in them as much as just wear them any chance I get. I’m classy like that. Congrats on the business loan Great things will come!
I hope you are doing okay with the flooding! After you escape, you must let us know about the bras, lol!
Awww, Data! Jude says he looks delicious. I mean cute!
I’m really trying to lose weight by my Chicago marathon too. I’ve noticed how much faster I am when I’m not carrying this extra weight.
Congrats on growing the business! That’s exciting. I just recently bought a Champion sports bra from Target= best sports bra I own. I only bought one because I wasn’t sure. Def going back for more!
Congrats on finding a warehouse! I’m looking forward to hearing about it.
Were you guys already in the city for the loan signing or did you just decide to make an event out of it and come in for vegan Mexican food?
We were in the city for the loan signing. 🙂
Congrats to you guys on the space for Fake Meats!! And I use those exact sports bras from Champion! You’ll have to tell me how you like them!
I really like them so far! I used them for yesterday and today’s run!
congratulations on the expansion! So exciting!
I tried using that Tide Active and it doesn’t seem to help. I have heard that you should wash your active clothes immediately after getting out of them, even if it is quickly in the sink.
I only came here via a group of google search words that included – stank
My favorite thing to do. After working out, throw your cloths in the shower with you, stand on them. Maybe put a little soap or shampoo on them. Now as you shower, the extra soap falls on them too, and do a few steps on them like you are making wine! It helps a lot to clean out stench or at least freshen it up a little to get a couple uses out of it!
Congrats on the business!! That’s awesome!!
I LOVE your orange bra!! Too cool! Lots of mine are pink!!!
That anti-charity thing is interesting. I don’t know if I could ever commit to it. But it would be a good motivator.
I need to convince myself to lose weight for pace reasons as well between 70.3 and marathon. But geez even that doesn’t motivate me enough. How much of a difference do you see it making, in truth?
It drops my pace about a minute per mile, so an easy pace of 10:00 becomes an easy pace of 9:00. But, I am about… hmm, 20 pounds overweight, so that is probably why! I can seriously feel it, though. 🙂
Ugh – the workout stank – we actually ‘cleaned’ our washer with some product because our clothes were super stinky. It seemed to help, but I also have a cold and am congested, so who knows?
Love the cat apps! I might go see if there are dog apps too…
That is a great idea! Do you recall what you used?!
I hope you feel better soon! 🙁
I’ve thought about doing something like StickK, but on my own (not through a website). I wanted to use it for weight loss, but I’m so bad at meeting those goals that I was afraid that I would basically be committing to supporting something horrible. Maybe it would work though….
Maybe it would! To what would you give money?
Congrats on FakeMeats.com moving forward. I will have to share this site with my vegan friends (I’m gaining more each month).
The Yoda hat on Data cracks me up. So damn funny.
Thank you, please do!
Hee hee. Do you think your cats would wear that?! 🙂
