Act now, think later

That’s my kitchen M.O.

Heh heh heh.

How Steven frosts a cake:

Hmm, that’s a lot easier to clean up.

And this is why Steven should be in charge of all culinary adventures!

I dislike cooking and baking so much,* that my method in the kitchen is to get in and out as efficiently as possible.** Get all the ingredients out at once, loosely measure everything, throw it together, cook/bake/saute/whatever, clean up and get the hell out of there.

Hence, “act now, think later.” I was in such a rush to frost this cake that I didn’t think about the fact that it may look nicer and be easier to clean up, if I put it on a cooling rack while I pour on the frosting/glaze.

What’s your kitchen M.O.?

*but I like eating, obviously

Haha, in the end, all that matters is how it tastes!!! I am messy in the kitchen, but usually just from multi-tasking. I love to bake/frost/decorate!

Hahaha! I love to cook and bake! I really discovered this once I started staying home. Although, my m.o. seems to be “make the biggest mess possible” 😉 At least I also make something delish so Matt doesn’t get too angry 😉

    That cake looks amazing btw!!

  3. My kitchen M.O. is get it in my mouth fast.

Holy cow. That.looks.amazing. (Honestly, being a chocoholic, I’d prefer that the extra frosting be all over the plate to enjoy!) But that is pretty smart execution on Steven’s part…I would have done what you did!

Of course I’ll defer to the birthday girls, but dibs on licking that plate clean after the cake is gone.

My mom taught me to clean up as I go while I’m cooking and baking, since she’s a huge neat freak. I’m mostly glad that I do that, since I rarely have huge messes to clean up, but I think it annoys the crap out of anyone I ever cook with.

I clean as I go too, and find it more annoying when someone doesn’t 😉 I love it when my mom’s mom visits because she cleans up after us, as we go! 🙂

My kitchen M.O. is don’t make more dishes than necessary so it’s alright to just eat something out of the container.

  7. Kiersten says:

Yeah but yours will taste just as good.

  8. My husband’s humor has turned me into a child. Your *TWSS made me giggle like a little girl.

  9. Erin says:

One of the reasons I don’t like to bake is that it uses too many dishes 🙂 I’m a fan of as few dishes as possible.

  10. Heidi Nicole says:

I think the middle of your cake makes a great place for some delicious dipping chocolate…..

  11. Linda says:

I was thinking the same thing as Heidi above. Instant fondue – just add fruit!

  12. Kandi says:

I enjoy cooking and baking so I spend a lot of time in my kitchen. That cake looks delicious anyway you frost it.

  13. Courtney says:

Um, my kitchen M.O. is to stay out of it- I don’t do well in the kitchen. I can bake- and I used to bake a lot- but as far as cooking meals goes, count me out.
    =^..^=

I’m amused we wrote about a similar topic (COOKING SUXXX) on the same day. I’m also amused by your cake frosting. It looks good in both pictures, and I definitely would eat the icing with a spoon in the top photo!

We were totally on the same wavelength this week. Gah. I just hate it. (the kitchen, not being on the same wavelength)

I asked my Grandma about the frosting recipe (she made this cake before I tried to make it) and she said the recipe has WAY too much liquid. Yeah. Good to know 🙂

My kitchen motto is “who cares what it looks like if it tastes good?”

Ha ha ha. I totally don’t care about food presentation. Like. At all. Fancy restaurants turn me off. But a big plate of sloppy Mexican food? Yes, please!
