It’s official!

I said “yes”!

My sister comes up with the most clever ideas! She sent (or gave, in person) each of her bridesmaids a box like this, asking them to be in the wedding!

I’ve never been a maid/matron of honor (MOH) before! In fact, I have only been a bridesmaid once. AsΒ I’ve mentioned before, I didn’t have many close friends in college, and the people I am closest with now, were already married when I met them. I am excited to be Christina’s MOH! She was my MOH, and did a wonderful job! I am looking forward to returning the favor… especially when it comes to keeping the dance floor active!

Have you ever been a maid/matron of honor, or best man?

If you were getting married now, who would you ask to be in your wedding party? If you are already married, is it any of the same people that were in your wedding party (if you had one)?

That is freakin awesome!!! What’s inside, what’s inside! πŸ™‚

    • kilax says:

It had a card, wedding color samples, a pen, a jar, a bag and informational sheets about the wedding venue, all the bridesmaids (complete with our faces on the “Bridesmaids” movie cover!) and the possible wedding apparel πŸ™‚

  2. Rachel says:

That last picture of you and your sis makes me laugh! It is very important to keep that dance floor hopping – in my family it is anyway!

I’ve been a bridesmaid once, a junior bridesmaid once and a ‘maid of honor’ twice. I put it in quotes because both times were different than the norm. One was my friends ceremony in Germany that was just me and her family and the other was Kim’s wedding where they didn’t have official attendants but I still got to walk down the (boat’s) aisle. πŸ™‚

I’m hoping to be one when my sis gets married! That will probably be the last time I’m ever in a wedding. πŸ™‚

    • Rachel says:

Duh! I didn’t even comment on the awesome surprise! Your sis really is crafty!

    • kilax says:

Your wedding experiences sound really cool! What was the Germany ceremony like?

Imagine what together, our crafty sisters, could create!

      • Rachel says:

Eh. I guess I should have clarified. It wasn’t a German ceremony. We were in Germany because my friend was in the military and was marrying a dude in the military as well. We just rented out a little banquet room on the base and her mom officiated (she’s a minister).

AWE this is SO SO Sweet!

i was the MOH at my korean gem’s wedding!I know nothing about weddings so I had to google everything! it’s fun for sure though πŸ™‚

    • kilax says:

I am going to google the hell out of … MOH responsibilities and ideas. And you all are going to help me plan her bachelorette! You are having one for Erin soon, no? πŸ˜›

  4. I am married. Duh. And I’ve been a bridesmaid twice, neither time an MOH, but I find the process to be overrated. I am weird like that, though.

  5. That’s really exciting – congrats! I haven’t ever been a Maid/Matron of Honor, probably because most of my girlfriends know how awful I’d be in that lead position. But, I have been a bridesmaid a few times. It’s always an honor to support a dear friend, but also so freaking exhausting!

  6. I admit, I almost didn’t read b/c of the word “box” in the title. I’ve seen so many “reviews” on boxes of processed food items, that I would have skipped this had I not known you “probably” wouldn’t fall into that category.

Love this unique gift & creative way for your sis to get everyone excited about her big day. I’m sure it will be a blast.

Missed you at Venus this weekend. πŸ™

    • kilax says:

Ha ha ha! Come on, you know I am not going to be reviewing a box of anything after my sponsored posts rant!

I missed you guys too! I hope I can go next year! πŸ™‚

  7. Anne says:

I’ve only been in one wedding EVER, and it was as my cousin’s MOH. Her wedding was super small, and her parents planned the entire thing so I didn’t do anything except stand there and look pretty. Which, honestly, is probably the best contribution I could make anyway. She returned the favor last year as my Matron of Honor!

I feel like I shouldn’t answer this question not even a year after my wedding but… I wouldn’t necessarily have different people, but I think I’d go a little smaller than we did. Except that Bob has all those pesky friends that wanted to stand up for him.

  8. Kim says:

I’ve been a maid of honor once (I think) and a bridesmaid 10 other times. Most of those I was really honored to be a part of… a few I haven’t spoken to the person since, so it’s a little silly.

I had my sisters (and sisterinlaw) and Dave’s sisters as our wedding party.

That box is ADORABLE though and such a sweet idea. Christina seems so intentional (just like you!).

    • kilax says:

What? 10?! Wow. I am not surprised. You are so awesome, I imagine a lot of people ask you πŸ™‚

      Aww, thank you πŸ™‚

  9. jan says:

Awww, that is so sweet!! Love the creativity!! I am trying to remember…I think I’ve only been in three weddings. I’m old. It’s been awhile. LOL

  10. Michel says:

That’s pretty cool! I tried to do something special for everyone back in the day. What I wish though is that the three I chose could have been their differences aside and not be jerks about having to work with each other on certain things. My sister was nuts. LOL. The other two were bitter towards each other. I would not have had anyone in hindsight.

    • kilax says:

Oh gosh! That is such a bummer! πŸ™

Three of my sister’s bridesmaids are friends of hers I don’t know well and I am looking forward to getting to know them better πŸ™‚

  11. Erin says:

Christina is so thoughtful! It’s obvious she gets joy out of doing things like this because she puts so much thought into them. What a lovely gesture for her to do!

I didn’t name a MOH because I didn’t want any of my friends to feel left out. If I did it again, I probably would pick someone so that SOMEONE would take charge. Although, maybe they wouldn’t take charge because I got married so young that none of us knew what we were doing. If I got married again, one of my original bridesmaids would definitely still be in the wedding but the rest would be new friends πŸ™‚

    • kilax says:

What would you want them to have taken charge of? I need to know these things for my big day on 6/14/14! (and leading up)

And ditto on the last sentence πŸ˜‰

  12. I have been a maid of honor once for my twin sister. I would absolutely have the same wedding party I had. It was all my sisters and my husbands sisters. I wouldn’t have it any other way! I think that is so fancy when brides ask their wedding party in such a creative way. My sisters got a phone call. ha!

  13. Linda says:

Such a cute surprise – she is obviously very imaginative!
I am sure you will have a great time planning for the wedding!
I am done with being in weddings – someday I hope I will attend my sons weddings, but I don’t think that counts for being in one . . . but I will probably help pay for it!!!!

  14. J says:

This September I will be in my 3rd wedding (not including my own, hehe). I have been maid of honor once and then bridesmaids in the other two. I think its fun to be in weddings but its super expensive which stinks. The wedding I am in this year is costing a lot. The last two weddings weren’t too bad cause the brides weren’t crazy.

  15. Kandi says:

Your sister is so crafty! I just asked my MOH in person. I only had one person stand up with me (and Joey didn’t really even want us to have one person but I insisted). I would still pick her for sure! In fact, I’m her MOH for her wedding in a week and a half! It’s a bit of work being in someone’s wedding but it’s so fun! This is only my second time being a bridesmaid (I’d been a flower girl a few times as a kid though) and I didn’t do much for the other wedding (my brother and SIL) but I planned two parties for the bride this time around. Glad the parties are over and we can move on to the main event!

  16. Declan says:

Justin Timberlake has a great song about this…

I was a best man once, and asked another time but couldn’t make it.

If I were to be getting married now.. I’m not sure who would be my groomsmen. My previous ones are in Massachusetts, so umm lol I need more bro’s

  17. Xaarlin says:

Aww what a sweet way to ask you! And those photos from your wedding are SCHWEET!!!

Ive never been a MOH or a bridesmaid. Like you, I wasnt close with anyone in college. hmmmm. when i get married I am like 99.9% sure we wont have a traditional ceremony, but I know who id ask to come (should it be at city hall- you can totes come during your lunch break right?!?.), and that would include many new faces from recent years πŸ™‚

  18. Michele says:

She’s so creative!!! How cool is that?!?!

The hubs and I got married on the beach. Just me, him, and the kiddo (I totally got that whole get married and have kids thing backwards…been like that my whole life!)

So no, I wouldn’t change it for the world. To me, the only people that needed to be there was the three of us…and my parents, and that was it!

I was a bridesmaid once, and a MOH once. They are still pretty close friends too!

  19. Bean says:

First, you and your sister look beautiful in those wedding photos. Oh and like you all have a ton of fun! Love it! I was the photographer for my sister’s wedding this summer. So fun and super honored that they asked me. Other than that have not had to strap on a bridesmaid dress yet- acted as a photographer twice and most of my friends have sisters so I get to party as a guest:)! I had my sister’s as my bridesmaids and we are still in touch;).

  20. Maggie says:

I’ve been a maid (matron) of honor once, in my oldest brother’s wedding, because he married one of my best friends. And I’ve stood up in 5 other weddings – my other brother’s wedding and the weddings of four friends. If I got married today, I would either have the same people stand up, or I’d keep it simple and JUST have my MOH.

  21. Courtney says:

That is so awesome!!! I love the box and the goodies inside it!!! Your sister is so creative!! I know you will be a great MOH!!
Honestly, I have no idea how many times I have been a bridesmaid… at least 10 I can think of off the top of my head- it’s ridiculous!! I can only imagine the “small fortune” I’ve spent on dresses, lol!
