Random Thoughts Thursday XXIII
-
My sister is a model! Her design firm entered the COLOR+COUTURE event last Friday in Kansas City. COLOR+COUTURE is an International Interior Design Association (IIDA) event. Models strut the runway wearing fashions made from carpet, tile, wall coverings and more created by local architecture and interior design firms. Here is what my sis said about it: “We were paired with fabric and laminate. I think in years past they [her firm] have been paired up with hard materials like tile or chairs. The theme this year was Avant Garde, and we were trying to go for an Avant Garde Native American theme. There were some really awesome ones there, but ours definitely wasn’t the worst!! I was super nervous, I almost tripped, I forgot to stop on my way back up the runway… But I did it! 😛 It was hosted at Starlight Theatre, which was really gorgeous. It was on their stage, so there were curtains and lighting, etc all over. If you look on Color + Couture’s Facebook page they posted pics of the event space.” Have you ever played model? Apparently I did, when I was 3(?) and my aunt worked at Kmart and they needed some young models. Yes, I have photos of this.
- Do you think my sister and me look alike? Here are some photos of us doing similar poses for you to base your answer on. Ha.
- AHH! I cannot wait until my snister* starts planning her wedding!!!
- I love how our pumpkin turned out! It worked out really well – I created the template, cut it, drew it on, and gutted the pumpkin and Steven carved it. I think we both enjoyed the tasks we did. Makes me want to do it again! Check out the FakeMeats.com Facebook page for a giveaway related to the pumpkin!!! All you have to do is post a pic of your carved/decorated pumpkin for a chance to win some goodies!
- I think the pumpkin loved me too. Part of it traveled with me to work yesterday, in the bottom of my boots. I was walking, wondering “What is in my boot?!” I was happy it was not one of Data’s toys… and especially not a bug!
- I am loving seeing all of your guesses for my ZOOMA half finish time! Keep them coming if you haven’t guessed already… or want to do a bonus Facebook post and guess!

*Snisterly term of endearment that we use.
Cool pumpkin! Yes, I do think you and your sister look alike – and like you have a lot of fun together!
I couldn’t figure out what you meant by hearing more about my/our budget in your comment on my last post – I realize I am probably really clueless not to have gotten it, but I didn’t want to ignore your question – LOL! So if you can just clarify it for me, I’d be happy to oblige!
Amy, I am so sorry. When I left my comment I must have been thinking about something else. I meant to ask more about your government, since you said it was less polarizing. I am sorry for the confusion!
Any birthday plans for you? 🙂
You and sister look a lot a like! I has the same incident happen to me yesterday when I found money in my boot. Lol. That pumpkin turned out great. Have fun at zooma
Money would have been better than pumpkin! 🙂
Had whoops
UM, how could this post go on without sharing the Kmart Kim photos?
Yes! We need the Kmart pics! I went to design school my first year of college so yes, lots of modeling. I remember one girl had a Native American getup on except it was open butt. Yikes.
YOur sis looks great though and yes, definitely a sisterly resemblance!
Real open butt? Ha ha ha. Like!
Your pumpkin looks great!!! I do think you and your sister look alike too!! And I would love to see the photos of you modeling!!!
=^..^=
That pumpkin ROCKS! I’m so impressed!
I think you and your sissy look alike! I get told all the time my brother and I look a lot a like but I only see it in certain pics
People say that to us too and I never see it. Especially when all four (we have two bros) of us are together.
Wow your sister looks awesome! What a cool contest.
I think you guys look alike in some ways, but you definetly have some different characteristics. You both have great smiles though! My sister and I can never really see how people think we look so much alike, cause she looks so much like my mom and I look so much like my dad.
awww you make me miss KC talking about starlight. What a awesome experience to walk and not only that but to be doing it for your sister, twice as special!!
I think you look a little bit like your sister, but it could be that one of you resembles your mom and one your dad. My best friend looks so much like her dad and her sister looks like their mom. Funny how genetics work! Love the pumpkin! I could not do that!
One of the hospitals in the system I work for used to do a charity fashion show, and people from the community would walk in it. I was asked to participate in 2010 (if they don’t get enough volunteers from the community, they start asking employees). It was fun, and I didn’t trip!

Very cool! Love the 80s style!
Love the Fake Meats pumpkin!!! Great advertising tool, too! I’m getting excited for my own Elmo pumpkin this weekend!
I cannot wait to see Elmo! What with the other pumpkins be? Your friends will decide? 🙂
your sister and are you look similar, both beautiful!
Thanks 😀
I think if I tried to be a runway model for anything something really embarrassing would happen while I was walking – tripping and falling or some other wardrobe malfunction!
I think you and your sister look alike! My brother and I used to look very much alike when we were younger. Not so much anymore since we’ve grown up but the resemblance is still there!
Do you watch Sex and the City? (Rather, did you) There is an episode where the main character is modeling a pair of underwear and trips and falls!
I wonder if I looked more like my sis when we were kids. I don’t think we do now.
Sounds like your sister enjoyed herself even if she was nervous! That’s such a unique event.
I don’t think I’ve ever modeled for anything. At least not that I can recall.
Great job on the pumpkin you guys! It turned out great. What are you going to do with the back-up pumpkin now?
Anne had a really good idea to carve a running shoe in the other pumpkin? So maybe if I have time I will do that and enter it in the contest 🙂 Thanks for sharing it, btw!
You and Chris do share a resemblance!
How did pumpkin get in your shoe, lol?! And must. see. Kmart. picture.
Steven dumped the pumpkin remnants in the trash which my boots were near… therefore I blame Steven. I suppose I could have just said “Steven” and that would have been a good enough answer? LOL!!! 😀
I want to see the Kmart pics!!
Great job on the pumpkin too. I’m not crafty at all!
Awh thanks for posting about me! 🙂 It was a fun experience, but I think next year I’ll let someone else do it.. 😉
I don’t think we look a lot alike. I can see a slight resemblance in some pics, but in others all I can see are our differences!
The pumpkin turned out awesome!! I think I am too lazy to carve a pumpkin. 🙁
I don’t think we look much alike too. I still wonder… who is your real dad? LOL, jk 😉 We do have similar smiles.
Maybe Will will carve one! Ha!
Steven told me today he cannot get excited about next weekend because you guys won’t be there 🙁
