It’s pumpkin time!

To carve, not to eat.

Guys. I have not carved a pumpkin in TEN years. Okay. And even then, Steven carved it. Sadness – I thought I knew exactly where a picture of this pumpkin was, and could not find it. DAMMIT why didn’t I have a digital camera back then?! UGHHHHH.

Moving on, we are going to carve one pumpkin for a FakeMeats.com promotion and the other with something else (unless the first one gets messed up, then it’s the backup pumpkin).

When was the last time you carved a pumpkin? What design should we carve in the back-up pumpkin (if it’s not used as the back-up pumpkin, ha)?

FUN! I always thought that carving pumpkins was a fun (albeit messy) project to do! I haven’t done it in a few years because they always seem to rot so quickly after carving it. Yuck.

Love carving pumpkins! There are TONS of design templates online. Are you carving the FM logo on one?

I think it’s been a few years though Mr. Darcy carved one about 2 years ago I think. I’m slightly bummed we won’t be into the Halloween spirit this year given that we’re super busy with wedding stuff. I don’t even think I will dress up which never happens! But being in Mexico sounds waaaay better.

Joey and I have done it the past few years. We bought a few for this year already. We’ll probably carve them next week.

I try to carve a pumpkin every year. My favorite was the year I did Jack Skellington: http://www.flickr.com/photos/notmargaret/5134054047/in/photostream/

Pretty sure the last time I carved pumpkins was in 2003 (Here are some pictures). So, yeah, almost 10 years here, too!

I think I have issues with carving pumpkins and cleaning them out because we have never done it even with the kids. Maybe we’ll do small one’s this year…

I might not carve one this year. We did one last year, and I remember it being so hard, I almost cut my finger.

You could always draw on the pumpkin (with glow-in-the-dark paint perhaps!). I haven`t carved a pumpkin in ages, my last designs were easier faces and bats.

  10. Thanks for the sweet comment!

That’s a nice and big pumpkin 😀 I have also never carved a pumpkin on my own either :O Have fun!

Why not carve a running shoe on the other one? 🙂

Actually last year, we carved pumpkins of each of the dogs (posted here: http://shepwellcamera.blogspot.com/2011/10/165365-october-31-2011.html)! So maybe make a Data pumpkin? But before last year, I hadn’t carved one since high school or college, maybe even further back. Have fun!

  12. Oooh, I used to do scary faces as a kid, but lately, I’ve been really into those stencils that make it look like you know what you’re doing.

YAY! We hit up the pumpkin patch last weekend though our reasons for buying pumpkins was for a little project. (Check my blog later today for a fun surprise!) Anyways — I love the idea of carving pumpkins but actually hate the act of doing it. Too messy!! LOL!

I LOVE carving pumpkins!! Well, David usually does it, I just “oversee” the project, LOL. Two years ago we carved a “cat-o-lantern”- it was too cute!!
    =^..^=

  15. Results, please. I need to see pictures!!! =)
