Why do we visit the same cities over and over?

Is it to see family?

Yes.

To do the activities we know and love in that area?

Yes.

(okay, this should say “to eat the things we love in that area”)

Or because the area offers so much to see and do, it requires multiple trips back?

Yes, yes, yes!

New York City definitely meets those three criteria! This weekend trip was my fourth time there this year, and I wonder if I can sneak in a holiday trip to see Gina & fam and do a bit of holiday shopping…

Which cities do you visit over and over again, and why?

Looks like you had a fantasic trip! So glad 🙂

I can’t wait til our kids are a bit older and our budget is a bit bigger so we can travel a little more. Seems like I only ever make it to MN 🙂

    2. I love that pic of you and your lover. so presh.

  3. We go back to Michigan a lot to visit my Dad, but other than that we don’t repeat cities much except Milwaukee and Chicago because they are so close. Usually, when we plan a vacation we choose a city we haven’t been so we can explore. Which is why we chose Portland for our honeymoon!

NYC is a great city to visit – especially if you know people (and have a place to stay!). Looks like a fun weekend for you!
When I was dating my husband who lived in NYC, I loved visiting him! And the city! Now, we gravitate to San Francisco which is an easy trip and a beautiful place. We also go to Boulder, CO twice a year or so. In both places we love the activities that are offered up and the food!

We are thinking about going to San Francisco this year. I need to reach out to you for tips if we do 🙂 Maybe we could even meet for a meal or something 🙂

  6. What a great trip! I am really envious of that bagel right about now… That’s all I have to say…

Katie and I have been to San Francisco four times and show no signs of letting up. We do some of the same things over and over but also try new stuff too. And it’s one of the few places we go to where we really know nobody. It becomes just the two of us. Well that would now change to the three of us now.

I love your Roosevelt Island picture! What a perfect day! Let’s go back! Like, right now.

Ok. First of all, your photos are fantastic.

Second, between you and another fav blogger of mine who just went to NYC and the fact that my BFf just moved there, I’m dying to return back there! While I have no desire to live there, I love the excitement and electricity in the air of NYC. It’s been 10 years since I’ve been there and need to go back ASAP! Thanks for feeding my obsession!! Lol

  10. Those donuts…that bagel…I die.

Yep, it’s official. I return to cities so I can eat my favorite foods. Okay, and also sometimes to see family and friends.

But mostly to stuff my face.

I am this way with San Francisco and Santa Cruz, I think mostly because it’s “home.” I also return again and again to Cannon Beach, OR because it’s so beautiful there. If it wasn’t so costly to go to Chicago, I might be the same with it too.

I love New York. For me, the reason we go back to certain places over and over is because it is impossible to see it all in one visit. I believe that you could spend an entire lifetime in cities like New York and still not see all of it.

Places that I would go back to over and over and over are Hawaii and Italy. But Chicago is pretty darned awesome, too. =)

I love the San Ginero festival. It has been ages since I did that.

Cities I visit over and over… Las Vegas and Anaheim. Cities I would love to visit over and over: San Diego and New York City.

I’m guessing that Cherry-iced donut in the photo above is vegan. I’d probably still like it just as much as I like regular cherry-iced donuts.
