Chicago Half Marathon Giveaway!!!
This is so exciting!
Have you ever not run a race you signed up for? Why?
I have missed a full marathon and 5K because of injury, a half marathon because of budget issues, and a half marathon because of a family emergency. That half marathon was the Chicago Half Marathon. And I have wanted to run it ever since. And guess what? I get to this year (for free)!!!
And… one of you gets to run the half marathon for free as well! I have one entry to give away!
Let’s talk details…
- The race is on Sunday September 9, 2012 at 7:00 am.
- The race starts and finishes in Jackson Park, just south of the Museum of Science and Industry (course map here).
- There will be a race expo at Navy Pier the Friday and Saturday before the race.
- There is a maximum 13-minute mile pace for the race.
- You’ll get a tech tee and a medal!
- On-course entertainment
- 10 on-course aid stations
- Post race party with beer and pizza
- If you did this race and the Chicago 13.1 Marathon you qualify for the Windy City Challenge and get a special medal!

I can make it! My favorite post-run food is eggs! I had an awesome omelet with black beans, potatoes, onions, peppers, cheese and green chile sauce after my 5k this Sunday, and it was so so great.
So I just realized this is probably only for the half, and not the 5k as well. There’s no way I’d be up for a half in two months, so I’ll retract my entries.

Post race I can’t eat anything cuz I’m on the verge of puking. Eventually I’ll have a recovery shake.

Quesadilla, chips, salsa and guacamole. Yum! Also, there is the slightest chance I may not be able to do the race (possibly moving to NY – will find out July 10ish), so if there wouldn’t be a chance for me to pass it on to someone else a week after winning this, then you should give it to someone else.
Just looked it and last/only time I did this race was 1998, where did the years go.
OK favourite post race/run food. Got to be a Clif Bar. I always have one on my car just incase. Been know to grab a beer after a good marathon.

PS Will make a good last run before whichever 50k I do the weekend after although for me that is a lot of paved to run on 🙂
Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway, SO AWESOME!!! My favorite post-run food is whole-wheat toast slathered with hummus (I crave salty foods after long runs). And my favorite post-race food is Chicago-style deep dish pizza (Bacino’s stuffed spinach and mushroom, please)!

As for post-race food, for anything shorter than a marathon I want pancakes or French toast. For post-marathon, give me Red Robin!
