Friday Question #194
Did you have a tree house growing up?
We sure did! If my memory serves me correctly, my dad and his dad built it for us. And now it has apparently been engulfed by trees and other wildlife:
Ha ha. Thanks for the pictures, Dad.
My most vivid memory of the tree house is the day my accident-prone younger brother decided to jump from the landing to the ground (you can guess where this is going). I am sure if he told the story, that I had jumped already and he was following me, or I was encouraging him to jump, or I pushed him… but anyway, the conclusion is that he jumped and broke his arm.* My mom was gardening at the end of the driveway (which was far away for a kid) so I ran to tell her what happened. Fun times.
*He also jumped off of a three foot stage once and broke his leg.
We had a ‘tree’ house of sorts. It wasn’t in a tree but it was on stilts and it required a ladder to gain access. My dad built it. It had built in bunk beds and on the bottom bunk, the wood plank over it lifted so we could store stuff. We loved that house. It even had a wrap around deck. Our beagle could even climb the ladder (that had round rungs) and hang out up there with us.
That sounds sweet! Did you ever sleep out there?
Very cool treehouse! We did not have one but we had a fort in the yard. And my BFF and I constantly climbed trees to hide from my younger sibs. ha!
That looks like so much fun! I always wanted a tree house!
No tree house here. I always wanted one but we never lived anywhere that had trees suitable for installing one. Yours looks pretty awesome!
That is a sweet tree house!! We had a tree we would climb and sit in, but there was no house part.
That’s the treehouse of my dreams! We never had one, but I always wanted one. I also kind of wanted the one from Home Alone, where he sets up a rope from his window to the treehouse and flies in!
That tree house looks amazing! It’s like something you’d see in one of those children’s adventure movies! Unfortunately I never had one growing up, but now I wish I did.
Wow, your brother sounds hard-core! He must have a lot of stories to share from those accidents, plus I imagine he must have many other “adventures” to talk about, too!
We didn’t have a treehouse, but we did have a playhouse. My dad built it for us, and it was probably the best thing ever. It had a little patio, bunk beds, and he even wired the cable out to it so we could watch tv. I LOVED that playhouse.
What?! That is freaking AWESOME! Your dad rocks!
How cool!!! I had some trees, so I “made” a house between the two trees. LOL
That is an awesome tree house!
I never had a treehouse growing up. That treehouse looks great!
I responded to your comment on my blog but blogger is lame and doesn’t notify you. At least I don’t think it does…. Anyway… care to share your spicy bulgur chickpea salad recipe.
Sorry I did not get your response! I will find the recipe and send it to you this week! 🙂
I had a treehouse like that, except it wasn’t really in the trees because I had a backyard in the city. It was on stilts though! I had a lot of fun pretending that I operated a restaurant out of it, and I served mostly mud-based dishes.
UHH YES!! I loved it. My dad and I used to camp out in it all the time when I was growing up. We moved from that house when I was in high school so we dont have it anymore.
