Weekly Runner Photo Challenge: What is your favorite running “thing”?
This week’s theme: What is your favorite running “thing”? Something that you either HAVE to have for every run or race, or something you don’t always have or use, but look forward to eating/using/wearing before, during or after a run. Maybe it completely changed your running, or is something you just really like. It can be something you wear, something you eat, something you use (in reality or digitally), etc, but it has to be a thing.
My favorite running thing is visors. I have been running for a several years, but didn’t get a visor until the 2010 Chicago Marathon expo… then I wore it the next day! I love that it keeps the sun out of my eyes/off my face, my hair out of my face, and most importantly, the rain out of my eyes. I didn’t realize what an essential tool the visor is in running in the rain until Erin told me about it. It helps so much in keeping your face dry when it’s raining, so you are not constantly wiping your face off and struggling to see where you are going. It makes running in the rain so much easier!
I wear a visor for most runs, except recent 5Ks, because I didn’t want any extra drag. HA HA HA.
Do you wear a visor or hat when you workout outside?
my must is body glide..if that is an ok item 😉
I was thinking about Vaseline! That is essential for any run over 10… or 6 if it’s really humid!
You should participate in Maggie’s challenge!
I wore a hat once and hated it.
I don’t have a must but I realized there is a shirt that I tend to wear a lot at races probably because its the most comfortable. I think i’ve worn it for 90 percent of the races i’ve ran.
Funny that you should mention the visor/hat – I love my hat! Partly for sentimental reasons, but also for practical reasons. The other favorite item are these super nice sunglasses that don’t fog up.
I don’t have a “thing”. But of course, as we have concluded the other day, I am no real runner so it’s ok! 🙂
I’m a visor girl too – I wear them outside and for all races, but I also wear them when I run at the gym. I love the HeadSweats brand, because they sweatband keeps the sweat from dripping down my face. I love a good baseball cap, but for some reason I cannot wear an actual hat when I run.
I have this hat I bought from Outdoor Research, it folds up and can be put in your pocket. It also has two small pockets that can hold money, car key, gel, or whatever. It’s light weight and has a great band that keeps the sweat out. I love this hat and always wear it when I race.
I’ve never worn a visor. I’ve worn a hat once or twice, and while it was less annoying than I thought it would be, I kept checking every few seconds to make sure it didn’t blow off.
I always wear a hat while running – also because of the rain thing, but mainly to keep my hair from looking like crap while I run.
I’ve never worn a visor or a hat while running, but I’m going to be shopping for one soon for summertime running! Love the NYC Marathon visor, what a great memento!!!
I am excited to see which visor you choose 🙂 One More Mile has a lot of clever ones!
Thanks! My NYC bff bought it for me! 🙂
I don’t wear hats or visors when I run but I am considering it. Not sure if I would like a visor though because I think I would get a frizzy fro sticking up on top of my head! It does sound nice to keep your head cool while protecting your face. I should try one out.
I was going to say my headcovering, too! I suppose I should get on the stick and write that post, huh?
