Random Thoughts Thursday XI
- Even though that detail I thought I was going to get in DC never happened, I sure am happy I sat on another floor of my office for awhile. It got me a meeting with the head of our company, and since then, she has been passing my name along for a lot of opportunities. Even if they don’t turn in to anything, my name is still getting out.
- I mentioned this before, but it really bugs me when I meet someone new, then am telling another person that I met that new person (are you following?) and they proceed to tell me all of their negative perceptions of new person I just met. Please, spare me. I can form my own opinion.
- I went from having no smart phone to two smart phones this week (personal phone and work phone). Feel free to welcome me to the 21st Century.
FaceTime!
- I met Kelly for lunch this week! It was our first time meeting and we chatted our short lunch break time away. She is a lot of fun, and so passionate about a variety of things. That was really refreshing. The only problem is that our offices are too far apart. But they are a lot closer than our homes – we live about 75 miles from one another.
- I have been losing weight but you would never guess it if you saw my head shot (see photo above). I can’t wait to lose some weight in my face.
- I had the whole row to myself on the airplane last night!
Link Love!
- Check out Run Gingerfoxxx’s very personal post about Huntington’s Disease and how you can help raise money for research on the disease by running the Chicago Half Marathon!

A whole row on the plane – love when that happens…although it rarely does. I thought I was the last person on earth without a smart phone. I’ve been avoiding it!!
You got an iPhone? I am thinking about getting one when I get a new phone. I am just not sure if I want to have my music on my phone. I do want that face time feature.
Yay for meeting new friends! I will have to check her out.
I did get an iPhone. My old archaic phone was my music player and I really liked that! It was nice to only have to deal with one device when running (I always bring my phone with me for safety).
I’ve had my iphone since december, but have yet to use facetime. I think I may only use like 50% of my phone’s capabilities…
Oh gosh. I bet I will never use 15% of its capacity! I have only downloaded two apps so far. It does so much! 🙂
Welcome to the world of smart phones! I am happy with mine but I still don’t know how to use it entirely. hehe.
Thanks for the shout out! And i am so jealous of your row of seats!! I always get stuck next to the 6 foot 4 football/basketball/rugby player
Yay for blogger meetups and thanks for the shoutout! I am also totally jealous of your solo row. I always end up next to an arm rest stealer.
Congratulations on your productive meeting with the head of your company! I work with a lot of coworkers only over email or the phone, but meeting them in person even just once makes all the difference in the world, yes? You must have made an incredibly good impression on her! Can’t wait to hear about all the new opportunities that open up for you in the coming weeks!!!
Oh gosh. More and more at work lately, I feel like I need to get away from email and talk to people on the phone or in person. It does make a lot of difference. I hope these opportunities turn in to something!!!
Can I borrow that copy of Vogue : ) Welcome to the 21st Century! YAY!
It’s all yours!!!!!!!!! 😀
Score on the plane! And I have noticed in your recent pictures how you have been losing weight…you will have to share your secret plan with the rest of us! (How has your resolution for February been going? Me – not so good… 🙁 )
Binge Free February is a bust! Total bust. Talking about it makes it worse for me, eating wise, so that did not help. I wish I had a secret plan – I just wasn’t binging for awhile and that causes some weight to drop. 🙁
What is going on with your eating?
I don’t like when someone gives me their negative opinion of a person I just met. Related, sort of, I once went out with a guy that a year before a friend had gone out with (they only went out like 3 times, she basically fixed us up). Before we had our first real date she mentioned she didn’t think he was a good kisser. The the entirety of the first date up until we said goodnight I was worried he would be or that he would try to kiss me at all. He did kiss me goodnight and well, SHE WAS WRONG. 🙂
HA HA HA! I love the outcome of THAT story!!! 🙂
The benefit to flying REALLY early or REALLY late (relatively) is that you usually get more space on the plan! Hooray!
I’m impressed you’ve already used FaceTime on your phone. I still haven’t tried it.
And I think the head of your organization must really respect you. Do you think you could talk to her about the fact that you really want some new opportunities?
I think if I could get on her calendar she would listen to me! 🙂 I have been meaning to thank her for spreading my name. Thanks for the reminder 🙂
My last weekends flights included super over weight people intruding on my space..i.e. arm rest..you name it..sigh ..luck you!
Ooh.. I’ve not tried Face Time yet. We did finally get Skype! We need to get a camera for our computer, but we used my iPhone last night to Skype with my ILs, who live in Wisconsin. They enjoyed getting to see the baby. 🙂
Yay for blogger meet-ups, new phones, and having a whole row on a plane!!! I’m hoping to finally join the smart phone world in a couple weeks (getting an Iphone as well)!!
It’s been years since I’ve had the entire row to myself on a flight. It’s rare when it happens, but it sure is nice.
I am sure the weight will start to come off your face sooner or later – some people just lose weight in different areas at different times. It really is crazy how everyone handles weight and loses weight differently!
Thanks for your continuing encouragement with my weight loss 🙂 🙂 🙂 It’s so funny, because I see pictures of myself when I was heavier (in the far past) and my face looks slimmer. It’s weird how our bodies change over time!
That is so great about being recognized by the head of your company!! Woo hoo!
Someone was just teasing me the other day because I had my work and personal Blackberries out on my desk. I’ve left my personal Blackberry at home more times than I can count, but never forget my work Blackberry. Depressing? Not sure…
Let’s call it dedicated 🙂
Today my sis and I were chatting and she said she hopes she gets a cool company phone and I said “If you HAVE to have one I hope it’s cool, but I hope that you DON’T have to have one 🙂
