Rotary Santa 5K Run Race Report
My last race of 2011 – the Rotary Santa 5K! I’ve run this race twice before – in 2008 with Steven, and in 2010 with Erin and Jen. And this year, I ran it with Kayla! It was our first time meeting. We starting bonding by figuring out how to put on our Santa suits,
All figured out!
then by running for about 37 minutes (not sure on our finish time) in the nice cool weather with light rain. We were too hot in our Santa outfits but kept them on – you have to have some holiday spirit!
I love the fun spirit of this race, which is why I’ve done it so many times. It’s really amusing to run with a bunch of other Santas. Who knows how many there were this year, but it was pretty crowded for the first half mile. It clears up after that. It doesn’t really bother me, because I think of this as a fun race to take easy and enjoy at the end of the year!
I really enjoyed chatting with Kayla during our run, and at lunch… and in Starbucks. She probably wondered if I would ever let her go, or stop asking her tons of questions! I guess I love to chat, and Kayla is a sweetie! I can’t wait to meet up with her again. Hopefully her next quarter at school won’t be so crazy that we can’t fit in a date or two.
And lucky me – besides meeting Kayla my family was in town too, and got to watch me race! My grandma, Steven, dad and mom all wore their Team Kimbot shirts:
I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of the shirts!
I’m kind of sad to think this will be my last race of December. Maybe I will fit another in? Ha ha, probably NOT. I’ve run 22 races this year and I think that might be too high for me! But, I did fit one in every month, which was a goal of mine. I did have some other goals for 2011, but I will go over those at the end of the year!
Sounds like a good, fun race! I saw some of the santas heading toward the start line as I was on my run this morning. Glad to hear that you were a part of the merriment!
22 is a whole lot of races!
It was so fun hanging with you today! 🙂 I had a great time running with you (minus the whole being extremely out of shape part) and meeting your family! Now I just need to get back in shape and get some speed back to run with you some more! and no, I wasn’t wondering if you would ever let me go! Enjoy the rest of your time with the family 🙂
awesome! looks fun.
22 races?! Now that’s dedication!
Do they give you the Santa suit to wear?
You’ve had a great running year! Really impressive.
Yeah, the suit is included with registration 🙂
Thanks 🙂
That looks like a lot of fun…I was wondering the same thing about the Santa suit because most of them look the same…it would be fun to watch that one!
They do give you the suit! It seemed like some were different than the others this year (different material). I split the butt on mine right away 🙂
Looks like a fun race.
Impressive that you ran 22 races this year!
I think this is probably my most favorite (fun) race you participate in!! It looks like so much fun!!! (You must have quite a collection of Santa suits by now!!) I love the Team Kimbot shirts too!! I must say I wear mine out quite a bit (yes, even if you’re not running)!!
=^..^=
Aww, I love that you wear your shirt out and about! 🙂
ha, those suits are hilarious! it was kind of warm yesterday morning, you must have been baking in that outfit! looks like you guys had a blast.
love the header photo…couldn’t tell if you were in that pic because everyone looks the same?!
I am in it! Toward the middle. I have a white visor on – you can see the black of the bill of the visor 🙂
22 races? That’s amazing!
Fun race! I have yet to do it though. Glad the rain didn’t dampen any spirits and how great you met Kayla! Congrats on an excellent racing season!
I remember you running this race last year! Looks like so much fun! You have all these fun races near you! So jealous!
Maybe next year I’ll do this one – it always looks so FUN! And very cool that you got to hang with Kayla!
I had no idea that you ran 22 this years — that is amazing! I’m so proud of you and think that is a great accomplishment. That Santa race looks so fun and I remember you doing it last year.
Thanks 🙂
This is such a great race to end the season on! Totally for fun and such a great atmosphere. Sorry you had rain instead of pretty snow. And it’s so awesome that your family came out to see the spectacle of all the running Santas 🙂
