Random Thoughts Thursday III

  • The sleep support helped with my plantar fasciitis! I woke up with no pain and have felt great so far today! I did have to figure out how to adjust it so my foot didn’t go numb, but I didn’t mind sleeping in it once I figured it out. Hopefully I am on the road to recovery.
  • The women’s bathroom on my floor at work is being remodeled so I have to go one floor below (or two above) mine. Apparently this means I wait until the last minute to go, then I quite often get stopped by someone to chat on my way down there. Pretty soon I am going to be doing the “I have to pee” dance in the hallways if this keeps happening.
  • I’ve had a $200 Banana Republic gift card for two years and had only used $15 on it! Who does that?! Do you have any really old gift cards? We still have some from our September 2007 wedding! I decided it was a shame I hadn’t used the Banana Republic one and asked Erin to help me pick out some new clothes (Thanks a million to Erin!). Ta da:

  • Does anyone else have a million and one mosquito bites? Wah, I am so itchy.
  • We booked our November flight to New York City last week! We were able to get (imo) a very decent price on the flight, and because we are staying with friends, we can stay for quite some time. And my sister and her boyfriend are going to be there as well (but staying in the city). Can’t wait!
  • Speaking of travel, my passport is not up to date (it has my maiden name on it) and it makes me feel so trapped. Not that I travel out of the country much, but that’s how it makes me feel! Steven and I plan to renew our passports this fall.

  1. Great picks on the clothes!

  2. Personally, I hate gift cards. I mean, I like the idea of them. But, when it comes to my own life. I always forget about them, usually lose them and rarely use them. It’s wasted money.

Though, if I had a friend who would also be my personal shopper, maybe I’d be more inclined to use them. =)

Can’t wait to see what the new stuff looks like on!

I always feel like somehow once money is turned into a gift card it’s worth WAY more and I have to spent it super-wisely. That makes no sense. So, yes, I still have some in my purse that I’ve had for a few years.

    Glad your foot feels better!

We were just having a conversation on Sunday after our run about passports. Apparently only like 25% of US citizens have a passport!

  4. You only spent $15 on it? What did you buy? A sock??? lol

In all seriousness, I don’t shop banana much, but I have a dress just like that pink one, but in black and a bit longer (that one seems really short?). Anyway, I got it on sale and it’s seriously a staple in my winter wardrobe for holidays and such. Very versatile!

OMG THE MOSQUITO BITES!! EFFING HORRIBLE.

Very CUTE new stuff! I need to go shopping. And NOT at Home Depot.

I’ve never had a passport, hehe. So not the exotic traveler over here…

Your thoughts are random just like mine on most days, I love it! My passport still has my maiden name too, and girl we spent those gift cards ASAP and we wed in August 2007. I’m jealous that you guys held out.

I do the I have to pee dance everyday because I am basically chained to my desk for 8 hours and cannot get away, mine is more so the I gotta pee squirming in my chair with my foot tapping like a fool.

I love the dress!! so cute! Glad your foot is feeling better. Hope it continues!

    Cute wardrobe haul!
Cannot stand Mosquitos…horrible after all that rain.
Gift cards? I’ve got a few but no huge $$ amounts.

  9. Wow that gift card would have burned a hole in my pocket in about a week! Banana is my store!

I’m glad your PF is feeling better! Such a pain, literally.

As for the passport- my friend recommended not changing it to my married name and just booking tickets in my maiden name- this way you don’t have to pay to renew before it’s up for renewal (it costs the same, which is crazy to me!)

Yeah, I’m not feeling the Banana Republic gift card unspent for two years. But I LOOOOVE the stuff you picked out. I can’t wait to see you in those top two shirts especially.

Yes, I know about timing those bathroom visits at work.

We don’t even have passports. Oops.

The oldest gift card I have is a $25 Olive Garden one that we got for Christmas. We always get one from hubs’ step-grandpa, even though we don’t care for it. It was the first place we ate when we moved here (only thing close to our apt) so my father-in-law tells everyone to get us OG gift cards. ugh. I’m re-gifting it.

I have a $25 gift card to Restoration Hardware given to us for our wedding – nearly 5 years ago. I appreciate the thought, but things in the store are so expensive that card doesn’t even make a dent in anything I could possibly want to buy there.

I think I had a 5 year old gift card and then went to use it one day and it was a zero balance. I knew I had money on it still, but lots of stores had non-use policies for years where they deducted so much for each year of non-use. Now I use mine within the first year.

I was worried about that with my BR card. I hate that they can do that (it’s no longer allowed, right?).
