The beginning of the end of summer…

By , August 9, 2011 4:54 pm

Ugh, I noticed on my walk to the train that Ann Taylor already has fall clothes up in the display windows. No! I don’t want summer to end. But this top is cute. What a neat neckline. And I could use some more red shirts (and why is this top up with the fall clothes if it doesn’t have sleeves?).

I actually have a love/hate relationship with the summer (heat). I want it to be really hot when I visit my family on the Mississippi River, but running in the heat makes me miss the cold weather*. Oh well. The best part about being out of school is that I don’t have to dread going back to school at the end of summer. I am in control of my time now (kind of)!

In April, I made a “this summer, I will…” list. I haven’t done everything on my list, but it’s not too late!

What do you want to do before summer ends**?

*I do feel like I have improved my hot weather running a ton this year. Not how well I perform, but how hard it feels.
**It my mind, summer is half a state of mind/half weather. It ends when I feel like it’s over or when the weather gets freaking cold – whichever happens first.

  1. Fall Clothes – oh my! That is a very cute red top! I’ve come to like the Ann Taylor & also the LOFT looks, must stop by to look at the fall clothes!

Before end of summer I’d like to actually bring my friends together for a BBQ… its something I’ve talked about a bit all summer but haven’t actually done!

I love that shirt. It’s completely adorable. 🙂

Since I live in Florida and we have summer for about 10 months out of the year, I can’t say summer is ending for us anytime soon. 😉 Maybe in November? When it starts dipping into the 60s (if we’re lucky)?

Ugh. I hardly did any of the things on my summer to-do list! I’m embarrassed.

That top is really cute. A fashion blog I read actually put it on her “must have” list!

What else did you want to do this summer?

Yay! Does this mean I am slowly gaining some fashion sense? Nah – that seems too generous to say 😛

Sorry that I’ve been so MIA on commenting!

I am sad that summer is coming to an end, but that means that I am almost done babysitting! And yes, I hate summer heat too. I really think I run better in the cold than in the heat, so I’m ready to get back into cooler temperatures. Yuck, this summer has been brutal.

I feel like my summer running sucked this year because I couldn’t get myself back out there after coming in to reload fluids. In prior years I did, although maybe it wasn’t as hot??
Love the top, although sleeveless in winter is not happening for me.

We didn’t really have a spring this year, so summer has seemed never-ending. It doesn’t help that I’m heating for two and have been sweating since the end of April. I’m ready for fall and hope that I’m not wearing shorts as I’m being admitted to labor and delivery. I hate to say it, but I miss pants. I haven’t worn long pants since Memorial Day.

Yay for fall clothes! Maybe it’ll look cute under a cardigan or jacket?
As for the summer heat – I’m totally spoiled and hate to even talk about running and the heat because my knowledge/experience is pretty much negligible. Good for you that you’ve been so committed to your running this summer!
I’m ending the summer with a triathlon, and I really hope that I can finish it! It’s longer than the last one I did, and I’m a bit nervous b/c I don’t feel that I’ve trained enough.

    • kilax says:

I bet it would look perfect under the right jacket!

When is your tri? What distance is it? You can do it!

I am doing a relay tri next weekend! I am excited to check it out 🙂

      • Kristina says:

Have a great time doing the relay! I think that would be a lot of fun.
I’m doing a weird distance – longer than Olympic but shorter than Half-Ironman (thank goodness or I’d be seriously screwed).

It has been hot but I’ve been handling it pretty well too. Last year wasn’t horrible for me either. I think running with my camelbak has helped tremendously. Two summers ago when we weren’t even setting new records I always felt awful during and after my runs in the heat.

I love the neckline of the top. My guess is that they mean for it to be worn under a jacket all professional like?

Anyway, I like how you state that summer is not just weather but a state of mind too. Your to-do summer list is such a nice way to be able to make sure that you did a few of the things you really wanted to this summer. There’s not too much I can think of that I’d like to do yet this summer that I haven’t (not that I’ve done anything in particular) but it’d had been great if I’d done more running outside. Oh well. For me, I feel like summer will be over the weekend of the first football game (3.5 weeks from now) even though I know we’ll have 90-100 degree temps for at least another 2 months 🙂

Target has halloween candy out. That does not mean it is Halloween! Summer has 4 weeks left 🙂

I love summer, and my shore vacation is on the horizon so I am very excited! Right now, the only thing I am really looking to do before summer ends, is relax some more. This summer, with my job situation, I have really been able to clear my head on a lot of things. I hope to have at least a few more days/nights to do that!

My end of summer activities… head to the lake one last time, squirt gun fights, Slip and Slide with wife’s granddaughter…. one last BBQ while the weather is still warm.
