Life is Hard, Food is Easy GIVEAWAY

By , March 26, 2011 3:02 pm

Back to rockin’ the tea. At least I have this awesome tea cup from my sister. Too cute! I think I laugh every time I use it.

I may or may have not picked up this box of tea (below) because it had a lion drinking tea on the box… adorable!

And yummy!

Anyway, talking about my emotional eating issues is getting a bit old. I don’t want someone to take a glimpse at my blog and think that is all I talk about, because really, I tend to be a pretty happy person (at least I think?) no matter my size. I just want to be healthy and feel good. I don’t when I eat a sh*t ton of sugary crap!

I recently bought a copy of my favorite emotional eating book, Life is Hard, Food is Easy, by Linda Spangle, to reread. I first read this book in the summer of 2004, and it really resonated with me. Spangle talks about why we overeat (stress, boredom, sadness, you know, all that) and suggests real ways to deal with our emotions instead of eating. Something about this book just really makes sense to me. I think I need to reread it once or twice a year. I wish I could describe it better.

I bought an extra copy of the book to give away. I figured someone out there may benefit from reading it as well.

And with that, I will try not to talk about this so much…

    (See you tomorrow!!!)

  2. RunningLaur says:

When you say it like “deal with our emotions instead of eating” it sounds like it should all be so simple. Sure sucks that it isn’t! Sounds like a useful read!
Oh, and I’m pretty sure all of us know you’re a happy chick ๐Ÿ™‚ sometimes processing out the bad things is a good thing!

  3. I think I would LOVE and relate to this book! Want… lol

And I adore that tea cup… I think it’d be so cute for one of my friends!

  4. Stacey says:

Hmmm, I think this may be a good book for me, because I also eat when I am bored, tired, happy, sad ect. I really could use some help with that……

  5. Meredith Snowden says:

That looks like an awesomely good book!

  6. Kandi says:

What a cute tea mug! ๐Ÿ™‚
That book looks interesting but I think others would benefit from it more than I would so you don’t have to enter me into the contest.
Also, now I want red tea! Looks tasty.

  7. lifestudent says:

I am absolutely an emotional eater. Unfortunately, for all emotions. Im happy? Celebrate with a cupcake! Im sad? A bowl of ice cream! You get the drift.

I think I must have that book ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. This book definitely sounds like an interesting read!

  9. Marcia says:

    Sounds like a good read!

  10. Stephany says:

I’d love to read this book! I definitely struggle with emotional eating, especially now! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I would like to be entered in the giveaway for the book! It sounds like a good read for me.

  12. Mica says:

Ooh, that’s a book I would read! Include me in the giveaway.

Do you find that it’s hard to clean that mug? I had one like that, and soap would always get stuck around the little figure at the bottom!

  13. Erin says:

Vanilla rooibos is my favorite tea ever! Yum yum yum.

I agree with Kandi that the book sounds interesting but that others would probably get more out of it than I would. Although, I did spend most of my plane trips this week eating out of boredom. I should have given all the snacks to Jason (our seats weren’t together)!

  14. Megan says:

I’ve never heard of it, but sounds like some sage advice I could probably use– and great idea for a giveaway. I’d love to read because though I have acknowledged I am an emotional eater, that doesn’t always help me curb it when it happens!

  15. Tiina says:

    I’d like to be entered!

Have you ever been to the Celestial Tea factory just outside of Denver? It’s *awesome*! It has all kinds of uber cute stuff like that. You would absolutely love it ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Amy says:

I would like to be entered!

Celestial Seasonings has the best artwork on their boxes! That lion on the box is very cute but for some reason I really don’t like the taste of rooibosch tea, so I wouldn’t buy that one. I have the Sleepy Time one with the bear in my cupboard, though.

  17. Jenn says:

I’d love to be entered, sounds like a book I definitely need to read!

And LOOOVE the tea cup! So cute!

  18. *lynne* says:

“I would like to be entered in the giveaway” please thank you with a cherry on top! ๐Ÿ™‚

I do like the lion sipping tea image ๐Ÿ™‚ How’s the tea itself, tho?

  19. Michel says:

I would like to be entered in your giveaway! I’ve been paying attention to your posts this week but haven’t had a lot of time to respond but I feel for you.

  20. diane says:

Your tea cup is very cute. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve seen some with little pandas in the bottom too. Aw.
Yeah, 10 pounds since Thanksgiving on this end and continuing to gain. ๐Ÿ™ It’s all been stress eating, too. I’m hoping I’ll get adapted to the new job soon enough and that will quit, but…yes, if I don’t win the book I might just buy it on my own!

  21. J says:

Sounds like a pretty awesome book! I know I have trouble with foods and often wonder why I turn to eating instead of other things.

  22. Michelle says:

I have definitely struggled with emotional eating (and still do occasionally). I’d love to be entered!

  23. Jen says:

I think I’d find that book really helpful!

  24. Mary says:

I would love to be entered in your giveaway! I eat any time I am bored, which is not good at all…

  25. Elisabeth says:

I would love to win your giveaway, because I feel like I’m definitely an emotional eater! I love your teacup. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks!
