I hate technology

By , March 5, 2011 7:36 am

I am having the most awful two days, technology wise.

  • My netbook is operating really slow (think, dial-up speeds, takes 10 minutes for it to run at a normal operating speed – it needs more memory)
  • My laptop is operating really slow (something is wrong with it)
  • My website wouldn’t allow comments because I used the ≠ symbol
  • I am getting “corruption” errors when I try to back up to the external hard drive
  • My laptop will not open certain programs
  • My laptop will not recognize certain portable devices when I plug them in to the USB ports
  • The task manager is all messed up on my laptop, and does not show all of the menu options
  • Despite continual “restarting” these issues do not go away

WHY does this sh*t piss me off so much? Seriously, I wanted to cry when I went to bed last night. I feel like something is wrong with me for letting these little things bother me so much.

I need help.

(How ironic that starting last night and until midnight tonight is the National Day of Unplugging. I think it is going to become the National Day of Destroying Your Personal Electronics for me.)

I need an unplugged week I think. So sorry your electronics are giving you such headaches!

I totally understand- I get SO annoyed when technology doesn’t work, especially if multiple things occur at once haha. I hope it gets better for you this weekend!

I think because it is so frustrating and confusing. We rely on technology so much, but it’s so hard to know how to fix it ourselves.

Ugh! All those things seem so frustrating! I plugged my garmin into my computer today and it recognized it at first but then changed its mind. Then I restarted my computer but it still didn’t recognize it. Luckily I remained calm and knew that eventually it would work (wishful thinking?). It eventually did work but it was annoying for a while.

Ugh, Garmin issues are the worst! I don’t know why I have such a hard time with the Garmin and the computer!

Oh, I hear you. And if something like that is going wrong, I will sit there forever trying to fix it…and getting more and more frustrated.

BTW, it’s the LaCrosse marathon. My brother lives there. Kenosha would be a bit closer, but oh, well.

I think those things would bother ANYONE. It doesn’t matter if they’re small problems, they’re still annoying and they’re still a hassle.

I hope you get everything working properly again! Technology problems are a pain in the ass.

  7. awww.. I get that way too sometimes. I hope you’re having a good time unplugged!

Oh man, I wish I would have known sooner about the national day of unplugging. I was just thinking that I need to do one of those sometime soon. I suppose I can make my own holiday for it, right? Maybe the day I schedule a spa day during my staycation. 🙂

Wow. When the tech parade rains, it pours.

Sounds like at least for the laptop, it needs an OS rebuild. Hope one of those USB hard drives can hook up to it so you can copy off your data.

I was finally able to get the backup harddrive (one of two!) working, so Steven said he may reformat this week 🙂

Do you want me to make big puppy eyes at Jason and see if he’ll take a look at your electronics? I get SO frustrated when my electronics don’t work right and I think it’s because I don’t know why they aren’t working or how to fix them and it makes me feel like I don’t have any control. I don’t like not having control!

I hope you got some of them to behave. Although, sometimes walking away is hard but it’s also good.

    • kilax says:

That was exactly it – the no control and feeling like I can’t do anything right (after my other incident this week).

Thanks for offering to have Jason look at my junky electronics! For now, Steven fixed the HD, figured out the USB thing, is going to reformat my laptop and we are maybe going to buy more memory for my netbook. And the website crap… I am just going to see what happens! I will tell Steven we can consult with Jason if he runs out of ideas 🙂

So you were the unfortunate recipient of the technology gods wrath huh? That happens to me too my ozone will die as my laptop gets corrupted and the printer won’t work. Ugh, I hope that it worked out for you.
