Clear Water Outdoor 10K Turkey Trot Walk Race Report
This morning I walked the Clear Water Outdoor 6th Annual Turkey Trot 10K (what a title!) in Lake Geneva, WI, with Bobbi and Tori. Maybe we should just call it the Turkey Trot Gabfest 10K, because that’s basically what it was! When else* do I get almost 4.5 uninterrupted hours (includes the drive) to chat with my girlfriends?
Do you ever walk races with your friends? I have done quite a few this year. It’s fun!
Me, Turkey Tom, Tori and Bobbi
Oops. Maybe we were chatting a bit too much! We walked for about an hour and 40 minutes and missed the cut-off for official finish times! Ha! That doesn’t bother me. I was having too much fun, and I always have Garmin proof that I was there.
And honestly, there were some big hills. I would rather be chatting with my girlfriends that almost tripping down steep hills while running them!
Hills never look as big in the pictures.
It was pretty chilly this morning (in the low 30s) but I never felt too cold. Probably because I was talking so much! And taking in all of the beautiful landscape. The 10K was in Big Foot Beach State Park, right next to the lake.
We even walked by the lake at one point.
Maybe I can go to the beach there next year!
We received a little tree to plant at the end – I thought that was a neat touch.
And we had some special surprise visitors… but I am sure Tori will want to mention that!
Overall, this was a very fun race. Maybe I will do it again next year! And it was only $10! And the tech tee was an additional $10. I don’t have many long-sleeved ones, so I got one. I really like it!
*Actually, earlier this evening with Erin and Kate too! Yay! But you will see that in tomorrow’s post.
This was so so FUN! And I have napped excessively for the remainder of today. Hope you have fun tonight!!
I haven’t walked any races with friends, but I also don’t really have any friends that would do that sort of thing with me here. I don’t know if I would though just because I’d probably rather just go for a walk and not pay a race fee for it though. The tech tee is cute though!
Do any of your local blogger friends run? That is how I met all my running/walking friends 😉
My friend and I walked the Komen 5K. We had a blast! Old ladies walked faster than we did.
Oh, let me rephrase that… old ladies with breast cancer walked faster.
So jealous of that race shirt, and for such a great price! I decided today that I’m going to look for a race specifically to get a long sleeve tech shirt, ha!
You should! Although, when would you need it in AZ? How chilly does it get there?
I walked a bunch of my wobble and gobble race today. And well? I’m SO okay with that. After my injury and the fact that it was 4 degrees with the windchill? The potluck was the best part. hahaha1
I love that they gave you trees! That’s awesome!
What a fun race! I love that the entry fee was only $10! The scenery is gorgeous and you got to chat with some friends which makes it so much better.
I love doing the runs with friends/family! Mostly because we do the gossip thing over breakfast afterwards! 🙂
And $10?? That’s fantastic!
I don’t really have too many friends who would WANT to walk a 5K! Although, I think I might get my work BFF to start running! Woo! Still, sounds like a fun time!
I love the tech tee…pretty cool!
I had such a great time with you guys! Thanks for letting me come with even though I forced you to walk instead of run!
Yay for walking the turkey trot with friends! sounds like you girls had a fun time catching up.
WHAT?? It had a cutoff!?!?!?! that is DUMB. But, the tech tee probably made up for it.
i’ve walked two races (with my wife). They were both a blast, but I found that the power walking that we did for one of them gave me some pretty killer blisters on my feet. Obviously I was made for runnin’!
Thank you for your wonderful comments about the Turkey Trot! I love the pictures you took as well. We are glad you had a great time and we hope to see you next year. (and the beach is a blast in the summer) – Laura Luksich, Race Director
Thanks Laura! I think I will definitely be back next year, hopefully running it this time! 🙂
