Maybe now I will make an effort with my hair…
I finally got a haircut yesterday. Since my mom helped fund the haircut, I had Steven take a picture of me with his iPhone so I could send her a pic.
“Are you sure you want to take the picture in front of Lowe’s?” he asked.
“Yeah,” I said. “Why not?!”
Here is what my mom said:
Oh, you look beautiful, like a movie star. I didn’t know Lowe’s cuts hair. Ha Ha, just kidding. You’re welcome, Love momba lamba.
I thought it was too funny that she said something about Lowe’s!
I went the whole “maybe if I cut it short I will take care of it and make an effort in the morning” route. I hope I do! I am so sick of being zombie-woman at work. I am sick of hearing
“you look so tired” and “are you okay?”
Do you communicate with your parents/family via email?
I don’t send long emails to my parents (I prefer to call my mom), but we do communicate back and forth. Steven and I have a lot of fun taking pictures of random stuff on his iPhone to send to my mom. Last week we found her doppelganger, so of course, we had to be sneaky, and take pictures of her to send to my mom.
Cute cut! π
My parents just recently discovered text messaging last year. I haven’t decided if I like this or not… lol
Love the new do – it does look very elegant! Is that natural curl I see?
I am lucky to be able to talk to my mom and sisters quite regularly on the phone. About 25 years ago when I was on my junior year abroad in France I got in the habit of talking to my parents on the phone every Sunday. Once I moved to Belgium we kept up this tradition and now I just don’t feel right if I don’t talk to them on Sunday! Even though it was a lot more expensive way back then… And recently we have been experimenting with skyping – but my sister doesn’t like the idea of being tied to the computer while talking on the phone. I keep telling her you have to look at as having a coffee with someone and sitting back and relaxing while you chat!
I do have a lot of curl! π
I know a lot of people who LOVE skype. And it is so great that it is free!
I love the new cut! Do you feel refreshed? I always feel refreshed after a cut. I went months and months without maintaining my short cut, until last month.
I don’t e-mail with my parents much, mostly because I prefer to talk to them on the phone. But, in general, I prefer in person or e-mail. The phone is NOT my favorite form of communication!
My doppleganger was Victoria Bergsman; when I changed my photo to her on FB, my mom didn’t even know it wasn’t me, haha!! π
I do feel refreshed! Now I just need to figure out how to use a diffuser on a hair dryer π
I hate the phone too. I sometimes wish my fam and especially my friends lived closer so I could see them more.
I love how your “do” is bringing out such pretty waves!!! Very “beachy” π
Your hair looks great! I’m in desperate need of highlights and a cut, but keep forgetting to schedule an appointment. I haven’t been doing my hair either… I delay getting in the shower as long as I can and then don’t have time to dry and curl my hair, so I let it air dry on my drive and then throw it up when I get to work. You’d think the extra 10-15 mins it takes to do it would kill me or something.
That is what I keep telling myself – taking a few extra mins in the morning won’t kill me and it will make me feel better!
That looks fantastic! Nice cut! I hope it’s easy. π
Very cute! I like! I live with my mom right now haha so I *do* talk to her a lot. My dad a few times a week, mostly because I’m doing some part time work for him. π
What a hottie! :0) I don’t e-mail my parents. We talk on the phone mostly and sometimes I’ll get random messages from her on facebook (her new addiction).
Love the hair! It frames your face really well!
I email my mom almost daily, usually. They’re not short emails — just little “what are you up to?” notes. I call her probably one or two times a week. I talk to my dad less regularly, but my mom says he reads all my emails. ha. He’s just a slow typist. Whenever I talk to him on the phone, it’s about how my car is running.
all of my best pictures are in front of lowes. The blue brings out my eyes.
Cute!!!
Your hair looks so cute!!!!!! I’m glad you finally got it done! And your Mom’s note was funny.
Are you getting enough sleep, Kim? I think you need to be getting your 8 hours as well as the cute haircut!
(And, yes, Flash Forward is a TV show on ABC, but it’s probably gonna be canceled.)
Ha. No. I get 6 hours a night if I am lucky! π
I text my mom all the time. She just learned to text a few years ago, her students taught her (grade 4). My dad on the other hand, has about 40 text messages in his phone that he’s never read because he doesnt know what they are.
Your hair looks awesome! I cut mine short for the same reason, but now Im growing it out. Of course, when I say growing it out what I mean is I cant afford to get it cut right now.
I don’t have a choice now that I live at home!! haha. But for the years when I was in my own place, I still talked to my mom everyday…and my dad every other day or so. And even living with my mom, we still text throughout the day. And even though she could just tell me in person what she thinks, she comments my blog too!
Love the new do!!!
I love it when family comments on the blog!
Thanks π
I talk to my mom in person, on the phone and over email. Usually she send me an email twice a week about whats going on in her life and then I email her back. I live pretty close to my parents so it makes it easy to pop over for an hour or two and talk with them or help them with some technology problem! lol
I love your cut! I think we have similar curls in our hair.
I email my Mom sometimes but I also call (the put me on speaker phone). My Dad just started texting about a year ago and that’s interesting. I actually like it because I hate talking on the phone.
You’re too freakin’ cute. I’d only get a haircut if someone else paid for it, so I totally understand.
I know my family wishes I’d call more, but email seems to be the main form of communicay.
(note: my mom was passive aggressive enough to post a facebook photo of a sign that said ‘call your mother, it’s free’ and unfortunately, i called her just a bit afterward. Talk about not responding to P-A behavior!)
Email just seems so much easier!
(ps, have a superb weekend!!)
Thank you π
Does your fam live in AZ? I think phone is better than email but I admit that I hate it and think email is easier π
LOL @ your mom. Mine cannot even figure out FB!
I will e-mail my parents every once in awhile, but I usually use the phone. They like to keep up with me on my blog though, haha.
You are a great Lowe’s/Hair model. And Steven is a great photographer.
I love your new hair! It looks great. π
Since I’m currently living with my parents I don’t communicate with the via email. However, when I did move out for a bit, I still called to talk instead of emailing. I missed my mom’s voice. π
Cute hair and thx for your comment bout what you like to see and not see on blogs. and yes, im pic-heavy so sorry i am jammin’ your browser up π but im open and real, which is a bonus π
as for communication w/ parents..we dont really have any. Long story, strained relationship, months can go by without talking and if it werent for my child (their only grandchild) i doubt we’d even talk…sad but true.
I’m sorry things are so strained with your parents! Any luck things will change?
I don’t know what the deal is with the pics! I think I just need a faster comp π
You know I love your hair! Hopefully it behaves itself when you deal with it on your own.
My mom and I are both really bad about using the phone. We do occasionally send long emails and now that we both have iPhones we’re better about sending photos to each other.
Thanks π I am going to have Steven show me how to diffuse it with the hair dryer. He actually knows more about hair than me π
I wish I could communicate that easily with my mom. Or maybe, that quickly. We send her all the pics, but then call her to tell her to look at them π
Your hair looks great! π
In general, I prefer communicating via writing over talking, so e-mail is pretty much the greatest thing ever.
<3 <3
Love the cut! Sassy wherever you go!
I usually just call (or skype) my parents. Sometimes I e-mail them things but generally I stay away from e-mailing/texting them.
Love the haircut! Cut mine a bit shorter recently, too. Took a little while to get used to, and requires more maintenance, but liking it. I’ll have to check out the haircut specials at Lowe’s next time. π
I mostly TM with my mom and MIL. Quicker and to the point. Beats the heck out of lengthy phone calls…
Love the new look!! Perfect for this weather, and works great with your pretty natural waves, too. π
Love the haircut…gorgeous!!…and your mom’s comment made me laugh π
I like the new hair! π I’m thinking of doing something drastic with mine when I get back from Malaysia. Majorly drastic. We’ll see if I follow through on it π
I can’t wait to see it!
Thank you for all of the nice comments on my new haircut!!!
I LOVE your haircut! I also love that your mom commented on the Lowes thing. Your family sounds like they would be fun to hang out with.
Thank you π
I talk to my parents through email and phone, though they both prefer IM to email.
Love the hair π
I love your new haircut! I remember when I was in college (when email was NOT widespread) and my parents gave me a hard time about not having an account I’d check regularly. Needless to say, now that it’s almost 20 years later (gulp), we’re all pretty wired. In fact, my parents do video chats with their 2-year old granddaughter. They love it!
Your hair looks too cute!!! I like it!!!!
=^..^=
Love the new hair, Kim! You look great. π
You look great I love the waves!
You look so cute! How much did you take off the length?
My mom and I e-mail every day during the work week just to keep up. My dad and I e-mail, too, though much less frequently.
Thanks! I took off about 7-8 inches.
Love the new haircut! I always feel more inspired to do fun things with my hair when I cut it.
I either email or talk to my parents everyday. I also only work about a block away from my mom so we have lots of sporadic lunch dates too.
I love the waves! I wish I had wavy hair, I know it’s more work but it’s so pretty!
i don’t communicate, or at least, I try not do communicate via text with my mom. she has a normal, non-qwerty keyboard and assumed for the first 2 years of texting, that you just pushed the key and it “knew” what letter you wanted. i got some seriously, messed up messages. so…we’ve asked her to stop.
I email my mom all the freaking time. Usually once a day or every other day, but always about random stuff. We usually talk once or twice a week, but it’s good to catch up in between (my parents live in Brazil, so it’s not that easy to coordinate the time difference!)
