Washington DC, Day 4 (aka, Georgetown is full of beautiful people)
Shaina was right – Georgetown is the place to hit up for people watching. I honestly didn’t realize DC people are so fashionable… a lot more fashionable than what I see in the Chicago Loop. It’s like a walking fashion magazine in Georgetown (between all the runners). I wanted to stop and ask people what label they were wearing and ask if I could take their picture for outfit inspiration (some people might be flattered by that, others… creeped out). Unfortunately, I didn’t, so I don’t have anything to show you. Except my imaginary DC outfits…
Here is what I would wear to the office, you know, if I had a meeting with an important client…
Oscar de la Renta Ruby-Embellished Dress
Or just on a regular day (I love you Rachel McAdams! Bonus -this movie is set in DC.)…
And here is what I would wear to meet with the President…
Jason Wu Rosette Covered Sheath
Okay, enough of that.
In reality, Steven spent yesterday exploring Georgetown, and we went back to there in the evening for dinner and exploring (It’s so nice to have him explore during the day then become my nightime tour guide). What a neat area. I love all of the old houses and shops. That would be a fun area to live. Yeah, I’m sure it’s super expensivo. I would have to be one of these people to afford that lifestyle. A girl can dream.
Cute colored houses/shops
Remember my old tagline?
DC sure is happening! Too bad I missed this yesterday. Oh, PETA people, you amuse me. Your heart is in the right place.
Oh, wow…I need to go to Georgetown just to people watch. It’s like being in NYC…I LOVE to see what people are wearing and how into fashion they are. I consider myself fairly aware of fashion, but WOW – some of those girls are very brave with the trends!
I’ve never been to DC. All of your pictures are making me want to go!!

How fun. Glad you’re having a good time…

I agree that people in the Loop aren’t very fashion-forward. A little bit more toward the financial section, but even then not so much. I wonder why that is….
I *think* the first time I was in DC we stayed near Georgetown. But, I don’t really remember much about it.

I looooooove Georgetown! But it’s definitely an expensive place to live and I’m not nearly fashionable enough. I don’t have the money to be that fashionable either…but nevermind that. It’s still fun to look!

How great that your hubby’s there with you! When mine goes out of town for work, it’s just me and the pooches 🙁

You are seriously making me want to hop a plane to D.C.!

Georgetown is the cutest/yuppiest! I love it! Though I’d be hideously unfashionable there.

Katie and I were actually very disappointed with Georgetown when we went. It was all the same-old/same-old chain designer shops that are popping up in every suburb across America. When I was there years ago with my parents, Georgetown was full of one-off shops and boutiques that couldn’t be found anywhere. It was so cool. I miss that. Granted the brownstones are awesome, the rest of it just let us down.

It’s so funny you think Washingtonians are fashionable…when in reality, Washingtonians are kind of notoriously UNfashionable. DC is not a fashion city, by any means…unless you like the look of a black power suit with white sneakers on the Metro. 🙂 Georgetown is a great place for people watching, but NO, you can’t afford to live there (the Clintons have a house there) and YES, you can be just as fashionable as everyone else. 🙂
So glad you’re having a great time in my old city!

I love that Oscar de la Renta dress. And I’m not even a dress girl. Says a lot!
I miss DC. When they were living, my grandparents lived there. I used to go at least once a year. Now, it’s been at least five years since I last went. The museums there are fabulous. If you’re having fun, you should consider the Marine Corps Marathon. I ran it in 2002 and it went by all the major sites, through Georgetown, over gobs of bridges. An AWESOME way to see the city!

Forgot to mention, Fiance and I watched State of Play on Friday, pretty decent movie! I love that sweater Rachel McAdams is wearing that you posted.

Does anyone know where I can find, or who makes the sweater McAdams was wearing in the movie, “State of Play” pictured above? I love it!!
