More Wisconsin Half Marathon Follow-Up!
I had this rant post about my weeklong training all prepared to post today, but… the half marathon pictures came in, so you are excused from my reading my rant (about immature classmates)! Hurrah! It’s your lucky day!
First, I must say, it is making me ABSOLUTELY CRAZY to let my body rest this week and only do short (3 mile) runs (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, giving myself tonight off). I am really itching to get a longer run in (6-8 miles) this weekend… and I can’t wait to start marathon training in June!
Okay, on to the photos! All of these were taken by Action Sports International. I knew they would be there, so I made sure to smile every time I saw a cameraman. I tend to run with my mouth open, so I can only imagine how lovely all of the photos would be if I just ran “au natural.”
I put these in chronological order. The only way I could tell what was chronological was by my changing outfit – tissues, then no tissues, then no belt. Ha ha.
Check out all those tissues (again)! Notice the difference in what the two of us are wearing? Steven has on long sleeves, long pants and GLOVES!!! I wished I was wearing a tank. Yeah. I am a super sweaty runner and PROUD of it!
This was right after I went to the bathroom and was still adjusting my hydration belt. Ha ha! I like the “skinny legs” optical illusion going on in this photo!
I remember having my tongue out for this picture! I wondered how it would turn out. No more “skinny legs” optical illusion. That didn’t last long!
Right after I saw my mom and ditched the belt. “I want to break free…”
Approaching the finish line…
… and crossing! Nice bunched up shorts! Hee hee. At least I didn’t chafe at all.
Hey! Steven kind of looks happy! Is that allowed?
This is the first time I’ve participated in a race with professional photos. It’s fun to look at them now, but I am not sure if any of them turned out good enough to order. I kind of like that one of me crossing the finish line, but my shorts are all bunched up. Does anyone ever order these?
You look SO SUPER GREAT!! I am so in awe of your will power and determination…can you bottle some of that and send it my way! Congrats!
You kill me. kill. me.
So, today while I was doing my LONG run of 3.1 miles, I was thinking…when did 2 miles a day go out of style and make it so 3 miles is the “run of choice”…then I get back, am still sweating, and read about your oh so short runs.
Tell me. When will I get there?????
Oh, and the finish line, even with bunched up shorts…I would want it! (not your photo, I would want my photo).
I was reading this post and wondering who takes your photos for you and if they are getting major props for doing so?
I’m very envious of these runs and marathons you are doing. Major congrats to you and Steven.
The photographers ASI sent to your race were so much better than the ones they sent to mine!
Speaking of which, how did you get copies of your ASI photos to post? Did you do screenshots or something?
Your pictures look so much better than mine!! Haha. I don’t usually order them, but my mom likes to get me marathon pictures for Christmas, even if I don’t look good in them at all. They’re nice because (at least for Chicago and Marine Corps), you could tell what city I was in and it was a really cool background…Wisconsin, not so much?
Yay Hal! I’m so excited to hear about your marathon training!
You look so cute! 🙂 And…ahem…runners are NOT supposed to have skinny legs! They’re all muscle, baby! (the other day at the gym I grabbed Evan and made him look at my legs as I exclaimed, “Look at these! These are hard as a rock! Solid muscle! Woo hoo!”–I’m totally not joking)
Thanks for stopping by my blog – love the awesome race photos!! Makes me excited for my first half marathon!
Amy @ Passages to the Past – Thank you! I am not sure if I can bottle my determination… but if come out here I will take you running! Hee hee.
Hotch Potchery – Now I feel bad 🙁 When I started my half marathon training in December, I was running 2 miles a night and thought I was so bad ass. I remember the first time I ran 5 miles, it KILLED me! I didn’t know if I would ever be able to do it again. But I slowly slowly slowly built up the milage, and got to this point. You can too if you want to! And 3.1!!! Good for you! That’s a 5K!!!!
martymankins – Ha ha. I wish that was my family or friends taking these pics and not a professional photographer! When are you going to get back on your exercise routine? Or at least tell us all about it? 🙂
Erin – Yeah… I did a “Print Screen” then cropped in MS Paint during my lunch break. If I would have been at home I would have used photoshop. I feel kind of bad for posting them here since they are copyrighted…
Susan – I bet your pics are great! The WI is kind of … plain, right? Ha ha. Oh well 😉 That is nice that your fam gets the pics for you! I am super excited to start my marathon training and plan it all out… I am kind of impatient to get started!
diane – Thanks! I may have to disagree though – or at least rephrase what I said – I think runners tend to have super slender, muscular legs… I think mine kind of look like… a wrestler’s or something! Ha ha! I know they will thin out eventually. Maybe I should get some tips from you! My quads are super rock hard, but not the rest of me. I have a lot of work to do!
Run Sarah – Thanks for stopping by! I cannot wait to hear about your race and see your photos! You are super photogenic!
I checked out my pics…some are okay, others I hope NO ONE ever sees! Haha.
I’m sad to be leaving you, Mica, and Wiggs! My Illinois group who understood the fantastic (not?) weather we have! Plus, I read eight million blogs of people in Oregon, Florida, and the Carolinas…it was nice to have people close by, even though it’s all on the internet! Please let me be the first to know if it snows in July or something…
I think your photos are great! You should definitely order the one where you’re smiling as you cross the mat because you look so happy to be running!
CONGRATS! Fantastic pictures! It’s so nice that you and Steven can share this!
Susan – Ha ha! I will keep you updated on our CRAZY weather! I bet you will meet a lot of cool runners out there! It’s so awesome that there is a running blog network. I am so happy I started adding all of these blogs to my readers and finding such cool people!
Mica – Thanks! Maybe I will order it 🙂 Steven could get his too and we could put them together somewhere. Maybe we can create a little spot for displaying our races. Right now I just have them all pinned up in my closet!
javaqueen – Thanks! It does mean a lot to me that this is something Steven and I do together. It’s really nice that he puts up with me, because I am pretty pushy about running and races. I think we may end up taking a break, at least from racing though. We’ll see. We still need to discuss!
I have bought the pictures once or twice. And I think you saw the thing I bought for my daughter after her triathlon, right? I was so proud of her I didn’t even care that it cost about a milion dollars (not really, but the pictures and stuff are so expensive!) I have gone to a few triathlons alone and then I have zero pictures unless I buy them. In the last triathlon I did, every single picture makes me look grumpy. I was freezing cold, so maybe that is why? I hope I don’t just look grumpy all the time in real life now! I didn’t buy any of those pictures!
You look great!
i think you look fantastic!!!! and i am so proud of you and Steven!!!! you guys rock!!! i would order some pics, it was your first half marathon!!! and you look great!!!
=^..^=
Love the pics, especially the finish line one. You look really happy! I love that feeling of freedom when you unstrap the belt!!
