Too tired to meow
Data had his teeth cleaning operation yesterday. It went well. They didn’t even have to remove any teeth!
Of course, I worried about him all day. Even after Steven talked to the vet post cleaning, I still felt sad for Data.
I was really anxious to see him when I got home. He was waiting for me at the stairs by the front door, like always. But he was a bit… off. He was a bit… loopy. Can you tell he was loopy by the way his eyes look in the photo below?
Loopy eyed Data.
He kind of kept running into things. We had the dishwasher door open, because the dishes were air drying, and I think he ran into it 20 times.
He went through his nightly routine of “feed me more,” but silently. I think he was too tired to meow. (That was a nice change!)
He was being very cuddly and sweet. Aww.
I haven’t seen his newly cleaned teeth yet, since he hasn’t been opening his mouth to talk. I am anxious to see them! I am imagining them being all sparkly and white. Ha ha.
We have to give him some medicine daily for awhile, and we are going to get a little brush to brush his teeth once a week (ha ha ha, riiiight). I’ll let you know how that all goes…
Where they shaved his leg to give him anesthesia.
You guys are such awesome pet parents! I used to work at a vet and know the importance of dental health for animals – I wished everyone was like you! Data is one lucky, healthy kitty. We recently got our dog’s teeth cleaned and I couldn’t stop smelling her breath – it was fantastic =)
Aww, he’s cross-eyed in his pic. Hope he’s back to normal today.
I hope he’s feeling better soon. I treat my dog just like another family member, so I can relate to how you feel,
Poor baby! I hope he’s feeling back to his normal self soon!
awww!!!! poor (loopy) Data!!!! he is still so adorable- he’s cute a bit cross-eyed!!! sorry to admit i kinda giggled about the dishwasher!!!! poor guy!!! i’m glad that he came thru with flying colors and got to keep all his teeth!!! i can’t wait to see a picture of him smiling with his bright white teeth!!! i’m glad he wasn’t too loopy to give you love though!!! (that’s a cute picture!!)
=^..^=
Poor little guy, Ihope that he is better after a good night’s sleep.
Our cat is super cuddly too and it is soo sweet!
Awww, he does look a bit loopy in that first picture! Poor kitty. 🙂
He’s a bit crosseyed in that picture, yes. So cute. I’m glad he made it through ok!
Poor, loopy cat. He will back to himself in no time, I am sure!
I was trying to read why you are scared of guns, but on my laptop I couldn’t pull it up, and I wanted to ask you why you wanted to get safe about guns, but I couldn’t comment on that post…so they are all here. Sorry.
Oh, and Knowing, I want to see that too!
Oh how cute! I think it’s awesome that you take him in for dental care. It makes me feel not so crazy for having my dogs teeth cleaned annually 🙂 Last year when we picked my dog up from his teeth cleaning he was so insanely loopy. He lifted his leg to take care of business on a tree and actually lifted it too high and fell alllllll of the way over. It was so sad, yet so funny at the same time.
Awww, I hate it when they’re still all loopy from the anesthesia. They’re so pathetic and I just want them to be back to their normal selves. .
hahahah look at those pupils!!! poor loopy kitteh! i am so so so so glad that everything went well for Data. I’m so relieved, too! The picture with you and your baby kitteh is so cute! Tell him he can come recooperate in NY if he feels like it, hehe.
omg, the thought of trying to brush my cats’ teeth has me amused. even when oliver got so sick last year and i had to give him meds THREE TIMES A DAY… egads. when my eyes bugged out at the vet when they told me i’d have to give him pills, they condescendingly offered to show me how it’s done, which i quickly accepted. they couldn’t get the meds down his stubborn little throat, either. tooth brushing would NOT go well around here 🙂
Yay, I’m glad the kitty is back safe and sound, albeit a little loopy. What a cutie pie!
Aw! Hee hee, loopt Data. 🙂
Love that pic of the 2 of you.
Um…we had the little kitty toothbrush (and poultry flavored toothpaste–ew!) at one point…I had more luck trimming their nails!
poor Data, please give him a chin rub/scratch for me
Amy @ Passages to the Past – Thanks 🙂 We put it off for a long time, but this last visit, we knew it was time when we saw his teeth! I haven’t got close enough yet to smell them! He is still being shy about it 😉
Amanda – Ha ha! I keep laughing everytime I look at it. He was a little better on Tuesday – a bit more “talky”!
Tony – Thank you! That is exaclty what he is – another member of the family.
tori – I think he’s getting there. It’s definitely slowed him down a bit, but I can tell he is trying to get back to normal!
CourtneyInControl – I was kind of laughing at him too. I loved how sweet he was being! I can’t wait to get a snapshot of his sparkly whites. Steven tried to peek at them last night, and he said they looked pretty white!
Christina – He was still a little out of it in the morning 🙁 But he got better towards the end of Tuesday night. I love cuddly kitties! I wish they were all this cuddly!
Hilly – I was surprised by how well his “loopiness” came through in the photo!
sizzle – I cannot believe how cross eyed he was! He looked like such a goober!
Hotch Potchery – I think I have a natural fear of guns, because of my ignorance about them. I never knew anyone who had one growing up. Then, being in Chicago, reading about all the crime, made me realize I may be around it more than I know. So I decided to try to conquer my fear, just in case I was ever in a situation where it would be beneficial to know how to use a gun…
Scale Warfare – Ha ha ha! I would have been laughing at that but feeling SO BAD at the same time! I wonder if Data’s teeth cleaning should become an annual thing. Probably!
Erin – It did get old pretty quickly! I missed my little furball of energy!
Gina (Mannyed) – He would love to chill with his cousin Manny! We’d probably have to put him under to get him out there anyway.
Alice – Ha ha! 3x a day? Impossible! We tried to give Data his medicine last night. Yeah… he didn’t like THAT too much. Poor little guy. I was worried he would turn away too fast and break his neck!
Mica – Thanks 😀
diane – Aww, thank you 🙂 I think the toothbrush is only a good idea in theory? I am already starting to doubt it and we haven’t even purchased it!
DeAnne – I will! 🙂
Awh I’m glad Data is okay. That pic is silly, he does look loopy-eyed. A little kitty toothbrush?! Ha sounds cute I want to see it! 🙂
Christina – Data misses his Aunt! Come see him! Maybe we will buy the little toothbrush today, and I can post about it whenever we TRY to use it. LOL. We couldn’t get him to take his medicine in his mouth so we’ve been putting it in his food!
