One step closer to our ski trip
Our Denver Ski trip is official! We bought our flight tickets last weekend (for mid February) and visited the Columbia Outlet Store today to get our jackets and pants.
I’m getting more and more excited as the details get squared away. It will be fun to try skiing, and possibly, some other winter sports. I wonder if we’ll get hooked on skiing and it will become an annual activity?
It will also be fun to spend time with friends! We are going with one of Steven’s high school friends and his wife. And we are staying with the friend’s parents, who live in the foothills of the mountains just outside of Denver.
All of my memories of these friends and the parents are of good conversation and good times. They’re the kind of intellectual people who listen, have a lot to add to the conversation, but know when it’s time to have fun and not be serious.
We had lunch with the friends today before going to the store. We were telling them about our fitness goals and half marathon training. Sometimes people brush this off or make a joke about how inactive they were, but they listened to us, and showed enthusiasm for our goals, and shared a few of their own. It turns out Steven’s friend is training for a half marathon as well! We all even talked about running the Disney World half marathon next January. After reading Laura’s Disney Marathon Race Report, I really think that half (or full?!) marathon would be loads of fun.
It’s too bad we don’t see these friends more often. They also live in the suburbs, but… the Chicago suburbs can be very far apart. And ours are. Add in all of our busy schedules, and it’s not often the four of us can meet up. Even more reason to look forward to the trip!

The weather has been great here all winter, so I hope it stays that way for you – lots of snow but no freezing temperature wishes your way.
Jenn – Thanks! I will bring all my super cold gear, but hope I don’t have to use all of it!
I would KILL myself on skis, but I suck at such things, so I’m sure you’ll have a great time.

I guess it depends on how this half marathon goes in May, but if all goes well I vote for a full marathon at Disney…

Steven – Don’t play with me Steven! Are you being serious?!?! I mean about going to Disney. And the full marathon!
Yes – you can totally do the Disney marathon ! It it so much fun 🙂 I think I’m going to do the Chicago marathon this year with a friend of mine which I’m totally stoked about!!
And yes – I have seen #2. Pretty darn funny!!
Hey, Kyra was trying to talk me into the Disney half marathon! I was being a big wimp though b/c I feared it would be soooooo many people. But maybe you should meet up with her!
E. and I have been talking about a ski trip for awhile, but haven’t been able to get our act together. I’m jealous! Have fun!!
Chloe – I wonder if I’ll get to the point where I can do marathons – I think there are quite a few I would like to do – like Disney and Chicago, and maybe one of the Hawaii ones 🙂 Choo shoe!
diane – I looked at the Disney stats and I think there were 15,000 people running it! I should see if Kyra is going to do it. Are you still planning your other trip with E? 🙂

it’s nice to be able to find time to hang with friends, even if it isn’t as often as you would like… that just makes the time you do get to spend together more special!!!

That sounds like so much fun! I was born in Maine but we moved when I was 5 and I’ve barely been on skis since! You guys will have an awesome, amazing time!! I’m jealous 🙂
