One of the cool things about working in Chicago is…
… that you sometimes run into famous people during your lunch break.
Today I ran into Tony Hawk.
I was walking and he was just standing on the sidewalk by the curb, alone. I slowed down because I thought he looked famous. I remembered that his first name was Tony.
People were walking by him saying, “Hey man! What’s up?” and stopping to take their photos together with their camera phones. It made me laugh – it seemed only the skater-looking people were stopping (I know, stereotype).
I called my mom and she actually remembered his last name! Points for mom for knowing some pop culture!
I am taking me being excited about this is a sign that I am not as jaded as I though. Ha!
(But this is still not as cool as my friend who works in the Rookery and was there when Christian Bale was filming The Dark Knight)
Too cool – he seems like such a nice guy.
I worked at Chili’s in the Orlando Int’t Airport and I’ve waited on Tone Loc (Funy Col Medina guy) and Lance Bass from N’Sync…oh and Joe Montana. We also had Bill Murray and Daisy Fuentes come in. Lance is a good tipper and Tone Loc likes maragaritas at 10:00 in the morning. But then again, don’t we all?
I love Tony Hawk! That is so cool. I should have had lunch with you today! 😉
Ha! Your mom kicks your butt in pop culture. Go Mama Ilax!
I would be super excited to see Tony Hawk!
Amy – That is so cool! Were you still excited to wait on them, or did it become normal?
diane – You should eat lunch with me every day! Wait – there are probably not that many famous people hanging around Chicago 😉
kapgar – Ha ha! I wouldn’t give her too much credit just yet 😉
marissa – I am happy to hear you say that! Living in NYC, you probably see famous people all the time!
that’s so cool that you run into famous people!! that is something i don’t have to worry about living here, lol!! sometimes i wonder what it would be like to live in a big city… i think it would be kinda awesome just by the stories that you and Gina tell!!
=^..^=
CourtneyInControl – I love working down there, but I also love going home to suburbs each night. I like to be away from it all sometimes.
Tony Hawk… I’ve never met him, but have a lot of respect for him. Of course, my favorite TV moment I’ve seen him in was a Jackass skit where they built this ramp on a lake and he’s dressed in a chicken suit. Classic.
martymankins – I haven’t seen that clip! I wonder if I can find it on youtube tonight…
That is cool!!!
Always used to love running into celebs when I worked at Disneyland, sometimes half the fun was trying to remember what I had seen them in 🙂
Felicia – Steven and I love that game – the “where did we see that actor before” game? I am usually pretty good at it.
