Cruisin’
One of our top priorities today is creating a few Cruisin’ CDs for when we are driving this around next Saturday:
Of course, that is assuming the Gallardo has a CD player. I was surprised when the Ferrari didn’t have AC, so you never know…
We need some suggestions for good “Driving” music. Here’s what’s on our list so far (in no particular order):
- “Low Rider”
- “La Grange” – ZZ Top
- “Panama” – Van Halen
- “Disco Science” – Marwais (Snatch Soundtrack)
- “Spirit in the Sky” – Norman Greenbaum
- “Latin Girl” – Black Eyed Peas
- “Harder Better Faster Stronger” – Daft Punk (and I must say, I liked this band BEFORE Kanye West sampled them)
- “Can I Get A” – Jay Z
- “The Joker” – Steve Miller Band
So, you can see… we have a varied musical tastes. I really REALLY like classic rock, and will probably put a bit more of that on there.
What are your suggestions for good “Driving” songs?
Driving around? Driving around where? Are you driving that car in the pic above??
I am still sticking with Radar Love by Golden Earing
“Jack & Diane” (Mellencamp)
“Born to Run” (Springsteen)
“How Bizarre” (OMC)
“Meet Me in the Back” (Melissa Etheridge)
“Black Horse & The Cherry Tree” (KT Tunstall)
“Vacation” (Go-Gos)
“Dust in the Wind” (Kansas)
“Come Sail Away (Styx)
“Twist and Shout” (Beatles)
And yes: Radar Love!
I could go on…should I? ๐
Lisa – We are picking the car in the photo (Lamborghini Gallardo) at 9 am, then driving it up Sheridan Road, along Lake Michigan (the rich neighborhoods). Then we are going to our house, where some of our family will be to take rides. Then Steven and I will drive it back downtown.
Kyle – Oh! Good one! I kept thinking, “What was that ring tone Kyle had for texts? I want to use that one!” I am happy you mentioned it ๐
Cat. – You can go on if you want! So far, your suggestions are stellar! I really love “Jack and Diane.” That one always gets me into a cheery mood ๐
pick me up and I’ll bring along some of my CDs :o)
i love that edit button!
Dirty White Boy (Foreigner)
Panama (VH)
One Way to Rock (VH)
Rock and Roll (Led Zeppelin)
Tough It Out (Webb Wilder)
Tube Snake Boogie (ZZ Top)
Whole Lotta Rosie (AC/DC)
Your idea of driving music may differ slightly from mine. Lets just say if you hear one of these starting if riding in either the coupe or the jet it’s time to hang on to something.
One other thing, you really should have – I Can’t Drive 55 (Sammy Hagar)
“taveling without moving” “use the force”
jamiroquai from the album traveling without moving
“Everybody Wants To Rule The World” by Tears For Fears. There’s just something about this song and how it starts and the overall flow of it that makes it a perfect driving song.
I like the suggestion about “Jack & Diane” from John Cougar.
And I like “Panama” That’s a good choice.
But you got to add the TFF song above. Trust me, it works.
I think that you need to listen to “on the road again” “sweet home alabama” “brown-eyed girl” those are classic driving songs, personally I love to listen to my “low end theory” by a tribe called quest but you don’t strike me as being into old school hip hop. donny hathaway is always good too
I might enjoy road trips all too much because my brain is going into overdrive with this one. . . .
Oh crap, that’s a Gallardo? Never heard the name before. Seen the car in downtown Naperville in that color, no less. But I thought it was a Murcielago because that’s the only newer Lamborghini I know of since the Countach and Diablo. Hmmm… I’ve got a bit to learn about sports cars, don’t I?
I guess “Little Red Corvette” by Prince wouldn’t quite fit, would it. I think a fast car like that, “Red Barchetta” from RUSH is a great song!
Gina (Mannyed) – You and the husband have not done this yet on your own? ๐ I am happy you like that edit button. I added it for my mother, who says, “I always think what I write is dumb so I don’t write anything.” Well now she can just edit it ๐
dad – That sounds like a list made in heaven. Can you … loan me the CDs ๐ (er… like you did with “Ice Cream Man.”) “I Can’t Drive 55” totally came to mind for me. Did they play that when we saw them in concert?
de – Thanks for sharing your music with me! I should expect you to know some pumpin’ (like the apostrophe?) music after your early drive to Phili!
martymankins – I have never heard of TFF! Does that make me a loser? I will look it up asap!
kapgar – I know it’s not your thing ๐ The Gallardo is considered “the cheap one,” because the import some of the parts, instead of custom build them (we visited the Lamborghini factory in Italy ๐ )
Kevin – Oh perfect! I will have to see if I can find that…
TFF = Tears For Fears
Riding with the King- BB King and Eric Clapton great cruising music!!!
