Designing ballistic walls

A few bullets for you:

  • Regarding our noisy and disruptive neighbors: We’ve been in contact with the owner of their townhome, the management company, and our townhome association. Each of them expressed concern and had a course of action they would follow to try to take care of it. We’ll see how noisy the neighbors get this weekend…
  • I received the last government issued ID card in the mail I signed up for using Ilax as my last name. So now I don’t really have any excuse not to change my last name now, unless… it will mess up my stimulus check?
  • Until now, I haven’t used anything I learned in college in real life. But I just started working on a major library programming study – something I actually dabbled in a bit in school. A friend and I designed a Mediathéque in Montréal (click here and here). I am excited to work on something new at work.
  • A lot of my older colleagues use figures of speech I have never heard before… therefore, I have no idea what they are talking about when they try to emphasize something…
  • Every time we buy a new bag of cat food for Data, he acts all snobby the first time we feed it to him. He’ll wait hours before he eats it. HOW DOES HE KNOW IT’S FROM A NEW BAG?!
  • More and more, I wish I could just write whatever I want here, with out being so completely vague sometimes. I have a lot I would like to say.

What kinds of sayings do you they use? Maybe you should post them and we can have a deciphering contest!

I’m totally with Sizz… bring on the fogey speech!

As for Ilax, is that your married name or original surname? I’ve always been of the philosophy that I would only change my name if it was to something cooler. Most of my friends have kept their names, maybe a hyphenate or two.

Being vague is a PITA when there’s lots you want to say. It’s exactly why I don’t seem to say much at all anymore. Good luck with the neighbors!

I once had a cat that was the same way. I was told it’s the smell. The concentrated skank of a new bag needs to dissipate a bit before it’s not offensive to their sensitive noses. If you cut open a new bag before the previous one is totally empty so it can “breathe” a bit before serving, you should be good to go? It (sometimes) worked for me!

My cats will eat almost anything and poop almost anywhere. They are lazy and decidely not-aloof that way.
But man, if we try to feed them on a schedule, Beatrice goes on hunger strike!

Sounds like it’s time to have a second blog. An anonymous blog. Where you can say whatever the heck you want. (Of course, you best tell me where to find you – I’ll follow you there, too). And keep this blog for things anyone can read.

I am totally with Nilsa- make a blog where you can speak your mind. You deserve it!! I put the rest of my New Orleans pictures up, just thought I would let you know! 😀

Sizzle – I was thinking that! I am going to start writing them down. Today one of the sayings was that something was a “white elephant.”

claire – Ilax is my family name. Not my married name. No comment on which is cooler… 😉

Lisa – Yeah, I am getting to that point too. What’s the point of writing if you have to be so vague? 🙁

Dave2 – I was thinking it might be the smell of the bag! I am going to try that next time.

diane – So you leave food out for them all day? Data would love that!!!

Nilsa S. – I’ve been thinking about having an anonymous blog, but it seems like a lot of work. I would probably end up writing more on that than here! But I am not ruling it out yet.

Bethany – Thanks, I was about to look at all your photos!

  9. SJ says:

A “white elephant” is something you don’t want. I think. I remember my mom going to White Elephant parties where each guest brought an item they no longer wanted, and everyone traded.

If you do create another blog, be sure to tell me where it is!
