Packing lunch
I hate packing my lunch in the morning, counting calories, looking at nutrition labels, taking mental notes. Caring.
Actually, I hate packing a lunch at all. Why can’t I just get some takeout at work? Not caring?
Just kidding. Just kidding. I care about my health. And my money (because takeout adds up!).
But sometimes it’s hard to be a healthy adult. I have the sugary appetite of a child, but the mental state of an adult who knows better.
I’m working on that…
I’d get lunch at work every day if it weren’t for one thing… money. Much more money than buying things at the grocery store and constructing them into a passable lunch. Stupid money.
Just remember that even if it was takeout at work you would still be doing all those mental calculations and caring. It’s just annoying not having the freedom to choose without reprecussions. Believe me, I know *grrr*.
Since the Hub is closed for renovations, I’ve been packing my lunch. The worst part is trying to have some variety. I get bored with things and have to try new things. Have a variety of fruits and fresh veggies clean and ready to go, and maybe treat yourself once a week or so to something that’s on your list of ‘wants’ rather than ‘shoulds’. Also, try packing the lunch the night before, so all you have to do is grab it and go in the morning.
i feel this one… i hate packing a lunch… hate it, hate it, hate it… my solution, i buy frozen smart ones or lean cuisines and leave them in the freezer up at work along with some yogurt… i don’t know if your work has a problem with “food thieves”…
I go through streaks where I absolutely won’t buy lunch or bring my lunch. I very rarely go back-and-forth. I’m all-in either way.
That being said, I usually bring the same kinds of things when I bring my lunch (three small snacks to eat at 10, 12:30, and 3).
Of course, this means I’m either “on a diet” or eating “whatever the hell I want.” I can’t simply watch what I eat like a normal person.
my lunch consists of left overs or pb sandwiches. i try not to buy my lunch to save money. i guess if i ever live with someone i will have to make more food so i can still have a lunch! 😉
I do the same thing and actually find it easier…wait, let me explain :). When I go to work without my packed lunch and either eat at the in-house cafeteria or go out, I spend wayyyy too much time laboring over what I will eat that will not be fattening OR will I go the skinny route or eat whatever I want. I play way too many mental games. If I have a box of WW Smart One goodness, that’s what I eat, like it or not ;).
I do the same exact thing that CIC does…It takes a lot of the thinking out of the equation.
Fortunately, I can go home for lunch. I am trying to do this more often. Not only does it save me money, but I have healthier alternatives at home than at a restaurant.
I am horrible about taking lunch….which I need to do. At my current situation, with job searching and lunch networking I have been eating out alot. It does add up to a pretty penny and is a lot less healthy (even when you try to be good)!!
