Expectations
Do you ever feel pressure to act a certain way around certain people? Maybe it is not a conscious thing, but after the fact, you realize you were falling into a pattern with your behaviors. You were most likely falling in sync with their behaviors.
Sometimes it’s a good thing… sometimes it’s not. But it helps you realize who brings out the best in you… and who doesn’t.
Sorry for being vague.
Happy New Year! I will post my mock New Year’s Resolution list tomorrow.
Yup, drives me batty. 😉 But you are right, it helps you spot the toxic people and steer clear of them!
It’s funny that you mention it because I do that too….but I never notice it until after the fact. Yes, it sucks.
Happy New Year!
i do that, yes. i hate it, yes. most of the time it’s not good or healthy from my experience. i hope yours isn’t bad!
happy new year!
Happy New Year!
I used to feel that way a lot. And I found that I was unhappy most of the time.
Over the last couple of years, I have made a conscious effort to not be around people I can’t be myself around — that includes family. As a parent, I don’t like to set the example of putting on different personalities for different people. You are who you are no matter where you are, or who you are with.
I’m a lot happier now.
Happy New Year!
You know, I think I may just know what you mean…I guess its our way of “fitting in”.
Kyra – Toxic! That is the right word. Maybe I need a detox.
Hilly – Maybe we need to make conscious efforts to notice it and QUIT it, while we are doing it? Happy New Year 🙂
sizzle – Mine’s not that bad… but I am going to try to notice it next time! Happy New Year!
suze – Happy New Year! This is going to be a big year for you!!!
Jodi – I know that it can include family 🙁 It makes me sad when I would have more fun being myself and alone… than trying to fit in with others.
Gina (Mannyed) – I think that is exactly what it is. And I am sure this has been going on since the beginning of man!
