Friday Question #8
What gift were you most excited to give someone this holiday season? How did they react when they opened it?
It’s kind of silly for me to ask this, because personally, the only person I have given gifts to so far is Steven. We haven’t seen his family or mine yet.
But, I really love giving gifts, so I wanted to hear all of your stories before it got too late into January and you forgot!
Steven has been talking about a universal remote they sell at his office for months now. He anxiously awaited its December in-store release so he could play with it.
As soon as it came in the store, he gave me rave reviews of how much he liked it, how cool the interface was, blah blah blah. Unfortunately, the thing is a few hundred dollars, and I couldn’t afford to buy it for him.
I told him he wouldn’t be getting it and he didn’t seem too disappointed. He knows I am not rolling in the riches!
But then his brother and parents decided to go in on it with me for his birthday. So I bought it in secret (which was hard since I bought it where he works!).
We were planning on giving it to him together last Saturday – on his birthday. But our flight never left, and we went back home. On Sunday, his parents told me to go ahead and give it to him. He was so surprised and happy to get it! He spend the whole day programming it. He even brought it to bed with him. Ha ha.
I am happy too – now we don’t have to use 4 separate remotes to watch a movie!
The iPhone I bought Scott. The only thing about it, was that he knew I bought it, so it wasn’t a huge surprise. But still, I’ve never seen anyone so excited over a gift in my life! I also bought him a Nebraska Cornhusker (gag) pull over jacket and he was crazy about that too, so at least I got one good surprise gift in there.
We still have about 12 remotes, it’s getting scary.
I got my daughter and my husband special diado (sp?) soccer bags embroidered with their names and a soccer ball, and all sorts of soccer goodies like water bottles and a soccer ball for hubby’s antena on his car, and a soccer necklace, key chains, etc. They’re complete soccer freaks, and they loved it. I was proud Oh, and I got DH a GPS so he can stop complaining blaming me for bad directions. 😉
Of course watching the little ones open anything was fun, but I was surprised at how excited my dad was over the Land’s End down vest I bought him. Then again, my dad was extra-sentimental this year so it may have had more to do with the fact it was from his one and only daughter. 😉
E. was also as excited as I hoped for that I bought him both Terminator and the Terminator 2 Extreme DVD!
he brought it to bed with him? how totally cute.
Jenniy – I think anyone would be SUPER excited to receive the iPhone! Even if they already knew about it 😉
Kyra – diadora? That’s so cute that you support their obsession!
diane – your dad sounds so cute 🙂 Terminator Extreme sounds like something Steven would want! He likes to watch the first one and make fun of the technology!
sizzle – he brought it to bed, said “I love you” and put it on his pillow! Ha ha!
I brought it to bed because I ALSO programmed it to control the bedroom TV and equipment! I said “I love you” as a joke…or was it…
Haha, wow, I didn’t know remote controls could bring about so many feelings, lol.
We got Matchbox 20 tickets for my bro so I was really excited for him to open it. His girlfriend saved it for the very, very, last gift of the day! All month long we were telling him the concert sold out and we couldn’t snag tickets. He was beyond psyched.
Also, I made a Kitty Calendar for my mom with all her grandkitties in it and featuring Molly. She loved it!
