Just can’t compete
Steven and I were really excited about handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters yesterday. Okay, that is a bit of a stretch, I was really excited, and he was excited to help me pick out the candy.
But we only had thirty-five people come to the door. A lot just walked by. We had our porch lights on, our pumpkin head lights on, and I put a lawn chair outside because I saw other people doing that (okay, they actually sat in the chair, but I had work to do! I at least opened all the shades downstairs to make the house seem inviting). I suppose it didn’t help that the trick-or-treating was from 1-5 in the afternoon.
Oh, and our neighbor’s set-up probably didn’t help either. Kids ran to get candy from their house, then walked right past ours.
Ha ha. I am not really upset. We just have a lot of candy in the house now…
Geeze, talk about your neighbors trying to set the bar high! Maybe you didn’t get as many simply because it’s not Halloween yet? When the town here schedules the trickortreating on a different night, it never works out that way. People are mad on both sides.
Uh, wait. Ok, I just had to check my calendar because for a minute there I thought I missed Halloween! I never, never, never get any kids on Halloween. Maybe one brave soul will come down the looooong gravely driveway to lay stake on some candy. Too bad because we pick out some good candy, too. Kit Kats, anyone? (Manny chose this year’s candy).
Your house looks inviting to me, btw!
I cannot believe your neighbors did that! I guess some people really love the Halloween!!! If you lived around here, you’d have no candy…these kids are equal opportunity piggies who will go to any door!
we never have trick-or-treators so i just keep the porch light off… i would have stopped at your house!!! 🙂
Kyra – Steven and I were saying the same thing last night – it is lame that the trick-or-treating is not on Halloween, and that probably had a lot to do with it! Of course, if it was on Halloween, I would never get home in time to hand out candy anyway 😉
Gina – We had snickers, three musketeers, milky ways, kitkats, kitkats white, kitkats triple chocolate and Darth Vader heads filled with candy. Those kids missed out! HA HA HA!!!
Hilly – I think kids are getting lazy. I used to knock on every door when I went with my brothers and sister. Now, parents drop the kids off, and they don’t knock on a door if they don’t have decorations! Oh well.
CourtneyInControl – that will probably be us next year! 😉
I always buy candy I love just in case this happens.
KitKats, baby, and Butterfinger Crisp.
Yay!
Why don’t they trick or treat on halloween in your neighbourhood? That seems so strange to me…
Erin – Oh Erin, you picked up on my personality very well. That is what we did. And I think we both had stomach aches today. But I would do it again if there was any candy left!
Suze – because they are lame? That is the only thing we can come up with! Ha ha, I actually think they do it on a weekend because of school… who knows though…
I miss you sister!!! (& Steven too!) I still want to come visit sometime, even if I am all alone. 🙁 Perhaps I could bring a friend? I wish I could come trick or treat in Round Lake. I would take all of your candy! 🙂 Love you!
P.S. You look so cute in your Halloween sweater! I am very lucky to have such a beautiful and amazing sister. You are irreplaceable.
Christina – I miss you too! Of course you can come visit, and bring a friend if you like – but one that is open-minded and won’t be upset that I am so weird! Ha ha, just kidding! I love you too 🙂 I think you’re beautiful and amazing and H-O-T!!! 😉
Now how in the world are you supposed to compete with that?!! Thank goodness my neighbors don’t do stuff like that.
Oh man, I LOVE your sweater!!!
We haven’t had trick-or-treaters for several years. I don’t even buy candy anymore. I mean, not for *them*!
maybe your costume was to scary?
